Alphabet laid off jobs for 12,000 people

Even though the world economy activity is slowly starting to recover from the pandemic, many companies still end up cutting job for existing employees, and Google's parent company, Alphabet is the next one to do so.
CEO Sundar Pichai has sent out an announcement to all Googlers, stating that approximate 12,000 people will lost their jobs. According to Reuters, that's nearly 6% of the company's workforce.
Affected US employees have been notified about it in another email with immediate effect. Other employees will still get the chance to work in for the next few weeks due to local regulations.

• Fixed an issue that sometimes prevented devices from automatically connecting to a 5G network even when it was available.

Android will soon bring custom lock screen clocks

Mishaal Rahman has recently shared some exciting news about upcoming features. One of them is a "Custom Clock" setting in the Wallpaper & Style menu, which allows users to set a custom clock on their lock screen.
However, to use this feature, users will need a clock provider app that implements the clock plugins API. A future update to Pixel devices will likely include a "Pixel Clocks" app (with the package name com.google.pixelcustomclocks) that will provide custom clock options.
While it is not yet known exactly how many and what kind of clock options will be included, it is clear that this app will greatly enhance the customization capabilities of Android 13.
Additionally, other customization features in development for Android 13 include lock screen shortcut customization, 3D wallpaper generation, forced Themed Icon generation, and a new monochromatic color style.
A close friend of the channel, Tom, has made a concept of how the custom clock feature could look in the future, showing different clock styles that could be used. Google changes its rules for the Android and Google Play in India

Google was recently fined $161m by India's anti-trust watchdog, the Competition Commission of India (CCI) for alleged abuse of its market position and "unfair" business practices. Google challenged the CCI's ruling in the Supreme Court, but the court rejected the appeal.
To comply with the local laws, Google has decided to introduce these following changes:
• OEMs will be able to license individual Google apps for pre-installation on their devices.
• Indian users will now have the option to choose their default search engine via a choice screen when setting up a new Android smartphone/tablet.
• The Android compatibility requirements will have changes for partners to build non-compatible or forked variants.
• Making user choice billing available to all apps and games starting next month. Developers can offer users the option to choose an alternative billing system when purchasing in-app digital content.
• Improving Android's installation flow and auto-updating capability for sideloaded apps and app stores while ensuring users understand the potential security risks.
• Expanding online resources like help articles & FAQs to provide more information on Google Play services and when fees is applicable.
Google said it will continue to appeal the CCI directions with the case being heard by a lower court, which is expected to give a ruling before the end of March. But it’s going ahead with the changes to comply with the land of the law.

We got to know that there's no Pro version of the tablet like we thought, as the original "tangor" with the Tensor G1 chip was canceled in favor of "tangorpro", which is with Tensor G2.
