Google releases Bard, a ChatGPT competitor
Google Blog
Google has announced the release of its experimental conversational AI service, Bard, powered by the LaMDA language model.
Bard will combine the knowledge on the web with the power, intelligence and creativity of Google's large language models to provide fresh, high-quality responses.
The response for OpenAI's ChatGPT will be first released with a lightweight model version of LaMDA, which requires less computing power. This will allow them to scale it to more users and receive more feedback.
Bard is open to trusted testers and will be available to the public in the coming weeks.

Android will now show a preview where you will swipe back
XDA Developers
Partially introduced in Android 13, predictive back gestures use machine learning algorithms to predict the user's next move to make navigating more intuitive.
The gestures were only able to show your homescreen on the swipe back, but that's changing on Android 14 DP1 as it can now show a preview of the last task and see if the back gesture will bring you to the home screen or a different app the user was in.
The option is still not enabled by default, you will need to switch it on in the Developer Settings.

Android 14 will not let you install old apps by default
Starting with Android 14, you will not be able to install apps targeting API lower than 22 (Android 5.1) for privacy reasons. Google claims a lot of malware is being built around the lower API's to avoid the runtime permission model that was added in API 23 (Android 6.0).
You'll still be able to install an app by using this ADB command:

Android 14 forces the Photo Picker for some apps
XDA Developers
Photo Picker is an API added in Android 13 that lets users give access to select photos to apps, instead of giving storage permissions.
The feature was previously backported to previous Android versions, but starting from Android 14 DP1 it'll be available on all apps targeting API level 33 (Android 13).
When an app asks for photo and video access, you'll be able to press "Select photos" and choose the images you want for the app to see even if the app asks for full gallery access/doesn't use the Photo Picker.
The option is not enabled on the beta, as it's behind a developer flag but shows what steps can be done to enhance user privacy on Android.

App Cloning might come natively to Android
XDA Developers | 9To5Google
Google is experimenting with app cloning on Android 14. It lets you have two instances of apps on one device, so you can be logged onto two accounts at the same time.
This feature was available on other OEM skins or apps like Shelter using a second or a work profile, but this may change with a native implementation coming in Android 14. The cloned apps will be installed on a "clone user profile" and will not share any data with your main profile.
OEMs will be able to choose which apps you're not allowed to clone and in the case of Pixels, Google is blocking many of their apps, such as YouTube or Photos being cloned.
So far app cloning isn't polished yet, as it's not clear which app is the cloned one in the launcher.

Google Translate and Lens get smarter with features powered by AI and ML
Google Blog
Google has announced two new features, the first one being contextual translation options with examples in Translate, and the second one being natural image translation in Lens.
In the coming weeks, Google Translate will give you the appropriate context to accurately translate and use the correct phrases, local idioms, or words for the desired purpose, for languages such as English, French, German, Japanese, and Spanish.
With advanced machine learning, Google Lens can now seamlessly integrate translated text into complex images, making the result look and feel more natural (on Android phones with 6GB+ RAM). Soon web image translation will also give you more options for translating image-based content.
