R.I.P Pixel 4a (4G)
With the September 2023 security patch, Google has stopped updating the Google Pixel 4a (4G) after the last guaranteed update in August.
The device, released in 2020 was a $349 midranger which was compact and had a great price to performance ratio featuring a Snapdragon 730G chip, a 5.8" AMOLED display with thin bezels and the same flagship-grade main camera as Pixel 4.
Google supported the 4a with three years of OS updates from Android 10 to Android 13 QPR3 on the August 2023 security patch.
Users of the Pixel 4a may receive one additional update with bugfixes just like older devices but it is not guaranteed.

Pixel Watch 2 to feature Fitbit revamp, thermometer, Personal Safety upgrade and new straps
9To5Google | 9To5Google
According to 9to5Google, the Pixel Watch 2 will have features first seen on the Fitbit Sense 2, like a skin temperature sensor and stress management.
There will be a new exercise UI that's more cohesive with Google's smartwatch style with larger, more glanceable elements and a more engaging display of your current heart rate.
Pixel Watch 2 will also work with the car crash detection feature on Pixel phones to display your medical information for emergency responders with full support for Emergency Sharing. The LTE model will also be able to schedule a Safety Check.
Google is also preparing to add translation back to Wear OS, likely with Google Assistant's interpreter mode.
Besides the new features, the watch will also get new straps: Metal Slim and Metal Mesh. These straps should be backwards compatible.

#Bard
Bard is now integrated in Google apps and services
Google has announced Bard Extensions for its Large Language Model.
With Extensions, Bard can find and show you relevant information from the Google tools such as Gmail, Docs, Drive, Google Maps, YouTube, and Google Flights and hotels.
For example, if you're planning a trip, you can ask Bard to find a date that works for everyone from Gmail, look up flight and hotel info, see Google Maps directions and watch YouTube videos in one conversation.
It can also fetch your files from Drive, which can be helpful during a job hunt.
Bard will now double check the responses, to see if it's correct by searching it in Google.
If you get a link to a conversation with Bard, you'll be able to continue it and ask away.

Android now shows battery information in settings! You can now go to Settings > About phone > Battery information to see the manufacture date and cycle count of your device’s battery. Not every device will report this info, though.
Sadly, this page doesn’t show the battery stat that I think most of you are interested in: the state of health, ie. the remaining estimated full charge capacity relative to the rated capacity in %.

As I previously reported, Android is getting support for saving an app pair, and more progress has been made on this feature. In Android 14 QPR1 Beta 1, you can now actually save and launch an app pair. However, it doesn’t have an icon and can’t be renamed.

You can see the bubble bar handle where you'll swipe up in the screenshot below, but it doesn't work right now.
