Denoscription: A PhD Position on microstructural modeling of geological materials is open at the University of Nice within a collaborative project with CEMEF at MINES ParisTech. The main goal of the project is to adapt and develop numerical methods for the study of the microstructural evolution of geological materials. The numerical strategy is based on the use of a full field framework based on the level‐set approach, which enables to simulate grain growth in a multiphase material. This numerical approach has already been applied to study microstructural evolutions in metallic materials.

Denoscription: A PhD position, starting September 1 2020 or as soon as possible after that, is available in the area of electrolyte thermodynamics. The duration of the position is three years.
When ions appear in a solution, they may drastically alter the properties and can even induce phase splitting. The amounts of salts appearing in each system may depend on size, polarity, and especially on the degree of ion pairing in the case of non-aqueous solvents. Such phenomena are not currently well understood and no thermodynamic models accurately predict this behaviour.
