> Denoscription: In this project, the successful candidate will study novel ultrafast scintillation mechanisms mediated by the prompt sub-nanosecond luminescence of two-dimensional semiconductor nanocrystals at room temperature. USE-2Ds aims at understanding scintillation at the nanoscale, using nanoplatelets in different arrangements as a nanoscopic tool to probe the energy conversion mechanisms in nanocomposite media, with the prospect of harnessing more than 10 photons per MeV of energy deposited per picosecond.
