The Mooney laboratory at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs is recruiting a MSc student interested in plant-insect interactions. The fully funded project will explore the impacts of warming temperatures on the integrated responses of soil microbes, host plants, and the ant-aphid mutualism. This project is in collaboration with Dr. Kate Becklin at Syracuse University and Dr. Christie Bahlai at Kent State University. Fieldwork will take place at the Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory and the MSc will be completed through the Biology Department at UCCS.
The award covers tuition at UCCS, housing and fees at RMBL, and provides a research assistantship for summers 2025 and 2026. Additional financial support is possible through the academic year if the MSc student takes part as a teaching assistant for introductory biology laboratories at UCCS.

Francesco Marra and I are looking to fill a post doc/post graduate position focusing on Extreme precipitation frequency analysis at the national scale (Italy). The project activities will include:
- Creation of maps of extremes at the national scale from satellite data
- Trend detection and nonstationary design rainfall
- Identification of spatial patterns in rainfall extremes
We are looking for a statistical hydrologist/statistician/atmospheric physicist/climate scientist.
The position, starting in December 2024 or January 2025 requires skills in handling large spatial datasets and scientific programming (Matlab, Python or R).
Good English communication skills are very important. The position duration is 12 months, with a possibility of extension, pending funding availability. Activities will be performed under the supervision of Prof Francesco Marra (Dept. of Geosciences) in close collaboration with Prof Marco Marani (Department of Civil, Environmental, and Architectural Engineering)
