Hegseth Calls On US Generals To Unleash 'Overwhelming Violence' Against Enemies, Ignore Rules Of Engagement
President Trump claimed the US is fighting a 'war from within' against undocumented immigrants
US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth called on 30 September for an end to “politically correct rules of engagement” in a speech delivered in front of hundreds of top commanders gathered from across the world.
“We unleash overwhelming and punishing violence on the enemy,” Hegseth declared. “We also don't fight with stupid rules of engagement. We untie the hands of our warfighters to intimidate, demoralize, hunt, and kill the enemies of our country. No more politically correct and overbearing rules of engagement.”
In recent months, the US Air Force has targeted three separate boats in the Caribbean, killing 17 people, based on the claim that the boats were trafficking drugs. The White House has also issued threats against Venezuela, claiming without evidence that President Nicolas Maduro heads a drug cartel.
Human Rights Watch (HRW) stated the attacks amounted to “unlawful extrajudicial killings.”
Hegseth also called for an end to “woke” culture in the military during the speech.
“The era of politically correct, overly sensitive, don't-hurt-anyone's-feelings leadership ends right now,” Hegseth stated while speaking at a Marine Corps base in Quantico, Virginia.
Hegseth called for “no more division, distraction, or gender delusions,” saying the administration of former US president Joe Biden's efforts to promote diversity and LGBTQ inclusion in the military had led to lower standards of excellence among military personnel.
“No more identity months, no more DEI garbage, dudes in dresses, no more climate change worship, no more division, distraction, or gender delusions, no more debris,” he stated.
...US President Donald Trump also spoke to the gathering of some 800 admirals and generals, saying that the military was battling an invasion of undocumented immigrants and that US cities would become training grounds for US troops, which are typically only deployed abroad.
“America is under invasion from within. We're under invasion from within, no different than a foreign enemy, but more difficult in many ways, because they don't wear uniforms,” Trump claimed.
The US president added that he told Hegseth, “We should use some of these dangerous cities as training grounds for our military.”
“If you don't like what I'm saying, you can leave the room,” Trump joked. “Of course, there goes your rank, there goes your future.”

US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order vowing to guarantee the security of Qatar, which came under an unprecedented Israeli attack last month.
Trump said in the order that Washington and Doha were “bound together by close cooperation, shared interests, and the close relationship between our armed forces.”
The president went on to say that Qatar was “a steadfast ally in pursuit of peace, stability, and prosperity,” and supported Washington in mediating global and regional conflicts.
“In recognition of this history, and in light of the continuing threats to the State of Qatar posed by foreign aggression, it is the policy of the United States to guarantee the security and territorial integrity of the State of Qatar against external attack,” he added.
According to the executive order, the US will take all measures – including diplomatic, economic, and military if needed – “to defend the interests of the United States and of the State of Qatar and to restore peace and stability.”

Damascus Orders Troops To ‘prepare For Operations' Against SDF: Report
The potential campaign would aim to pressure the Kurdish group into accepting the integration deal reached in March
Syria’s government has asked factions within the military to prepare for operations against the Syrian Democratic Forces, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported on 29 September.
According to SOHR, Turkish-aligned factions in the Syrian army were asked to “prepare for operations” against the SDF in Deir Hafer and the Tishreen Dam area.
SOHR added that officials in Damascus have requested that a campaign against the SDF not take more than a week.
The operation would aim to pressure the Kurdish group into accepting the agreement signed with Damascus in March this year.
Recent days have seen a significant buildup of both Syrian army forces and SDF troops in eastern Aleppo.

The potential campaign would aim to pressure the Kurdish group into accepting the integration deal reached in March
Syria’s government has asked factions within the military to prepare for operations against the Syrian Democratic Forces, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported on 29 September.
According to SOHR, Turkish-aligned factions in the Syrian army were asked to “prepare for operations” against the SDF in Deir Hafer and the Tishreen Dam area.
SOHR added that officials in Damascus have requested that a campaign against the SDF not take more than a week.
The operation would aim to pressure the Kurdish group into accepting the agreement signed with Damascus in March this year.
Recent days have seen a significant buildup of both Syrian army forces and SDF troops in eastern Aleppo.

Erdogan Threatens Syrian Kurds If 'Integration' With Damascus Fails
Violence has escalated in recent weeks between Syrian government forces and the US-backed SDF on the front lines in eastern Aleppo
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated on 1 October that Turkiye will not allow Syria's fragmentation if a deal to integrate the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) into the Syrian military led by self-appointed President Ahmad al-Sharaa collapses.
“We have engaged all channels of diplomacy, both to preserve Syria's territorial integrity and prevent a terrorist structure from forming across our borders. We continue to use these channels with patience, sincerity, and common sense,” Erdogan explained while giving a speech to mark the Turkish parliament's re-opening.
“If diplomatic initiatives are left unanswered, Turkiye's policy and position are clear. Turkiye will not allow a deja vu to take place in Syria,” he added.
The US-backed SDF controls large swathes of oil-rich territory in north and east Syria, which it administers under the name of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES).
The US-backed SDF was established under US guidance in 2015. It is an offshoot of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), which Ankara considers a terrorist organization.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced on Wednesday that the US was imposing more sanctions on Iran to support the UN Security Council sanctions that were reimposed after the UK, France, and Germany triggered the so-called “snapback” mechanism of the 2015 nuclear deal, an agreement the US withdrew from back in 2018...
The US secretary of state said the snapback sanctions were imposed due to Iran’s “significant non-performance” of its nuclear commitments, but the sanctions came just a few months after the US bombed Iranian nuclear facilities as part of a war that was launched amid nuclear negotiations between Washington and Tehran.
... Russia stated that it doesn’t recognize the reimposition of UN sanctions on Iran, signaling that it won’t abide by the measures, which include an arms embargo.

The ICRC said in a statement that it has halted operations due to the “intensification of military operations in Gaza City,” adding that it will relocate its staff to offices in south Gaza to “ensure staff safety and operational continuity.”
The Palestine Red Crescent Society and civil defense in Gaza have been working “relentlessly to provide relief,” the ICRC added, warning that their movement and ability to safely reach civilians have been “severely constrained.”
“The ICRC will continue to strive to provide support to civilians in Gaza City, whenever circumstances allow, from our offices in Deir al-Balah and Rafah, which remain fully operational. Sanaa said this was the ‘first installment’ of its response to recent US sanctions on Yemen
Yemen has announced sanctions on over a dozen major US oil and shipping companies, including ExxonMobil, ConocoPhillips, and Chevron.
The sanctions also target the CEOs of major US energy firms.
Yemen has “issued a decision to classify (13) entities, (9) individuals, and (2) assets linked to the United States of America,” according to a statement by the Humanitarian Coordination Center released on the website of the Yemeni Armed Forces (YAF).
This is “the first installment in the framework of responding to the sanctions imposed by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the US Department of Treasury on 20 June, 22 July, and 11 September 2025, through the classification and inclusion of entities, persons, and vessels on the SDN Sanctions List, despite the announcement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman on 6 May 2025, of de-escalation and a cessation of fire.”
The targeted companies are ExxonMobil, ConocoPhillips, Chevron, Enterprise Products Operating, Marathon Petroleum Supply, Diamond S Shipping Inc., and others. The CEOs of these firms are also included.

Israel is paying US social media influencers thousands of dollars per post to improve its image amid Tel Aviv’s efforts to destroy Gaza and starve its population, the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft reported on 2 October.
Citing a document filed under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA), the institute wrote that, “influencers are likely being paid around $7,000 per post on social media such as TikTok and Instagram on behalf of Israel.”
The document showed payment invoices submitted by the public relations firm Bridges Partners to conduct a campaign known as the Esther Project. The invoices were submitted to Havas Media Group Germany – an international media group working for Israel.
The Esther Project is part of a broader effort to shape the public option that Israeli officials describe as the “eighth front” in its war against Gaza and neighboring states, including Syria, Lebanon, and Iran.
The invoices documented a sum of $900,000 to be used for “payments for influencers and production,” between June and November this year.

A New York Times/Siena poll published on 30 September shows US support for Israel has collapsed, with most voters rejecting further aid and sympathies tilting toward Palestinians for the first time since 1998.
Conducted from 22–27 September, with 1,313 registered voters, the survey found broad opposition to new economic or military assistance to Tel Aviv.
Nearly two years after the 7 October 2023 Hamas operation, six in 10 respondents said Israel should end its military campaign even if hostages remained or Hamas was not eliminated.
Forty percent of those surveyed said Israel was deliberately targeting civilians, nearly double the share who agreed in the 2023 survey.
For the first time since the New York Times (NYT) began tracking voter sentiment in 1998, Palestinians now hold a slight edge in public sympathy over Israelis.
