❗️A Turkish Foreign Ministry source told AFP that talks have begun regarding the participation of the Turkish military in a peacekeeping mission in Gaza.

“We are in contact with our partners, and Turkiye’s level of participation has not yet been determined,” the source added.

Commenting on Israel’s objection to a Turkish presence in Gaza, the source said, “There is a ceasefire agreement, and Turkiye is one of its guarantors. Our forces are ready for any peacekeeping mission that may be assigned to them in Gaza.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reportedly rejected Turkish military involvement in Gaza, calling it a “red line,” according to Channel 12.

Hadhramaut Autonomy: Local Aspiration Or A Saudi–UAE Tug-Of-War?

The eastern Yemeni governorate of Hadhramaut has become a testing ground for regional rivalries, as Saudi Arabia and the UAE compete for control under the guise of supporting local autonomy.

Yemen’s strategic governorate of Hadhramaut, rich in oil and natural resources, is undergoing a rapid and unprecedented transformation. In recent months, the Hadhramaut Tribes Alliance (HTA) – a once loosely organized tribal coalition – has imposed a new political-military equation on the ground, shifting from demands for local representation to a full-fledged autonomy project.

This transformation, supported directly by Saudi Arabia through political coordination and military backing, has reignited long-standing rivalries over Yemen’s most resource-rich region.

Hadhramaut spans 36 percent of Yemen’s territory and is home to the country’s largest oil reserves. It includes vital ports like Mukalla, Al-Shihr, and the oil terminal at Al-Dhabba. With 80 percent of Yemen’s oil production sourced from Hadhrami territory, whoever controls Hadhramaut holds a powerful card over Yemen’s economy and access to Arabian Sea maritime routes.

Riyadh’s involvement aims to safeguard its commercial and strategic interests in the region, particularly as it develops alternatives to chokepoints like Bab al-Mandab and the Strait of Hormuz. But this agenda collides with Abu Dhabi’s own ambitions, exercised through its proxies in the Southern Transitional Council (STC). As both Persian Gulf powers deepen their entrenchment, Hadhramaut is at the heart of a growing confrontation that may no longer remain limited to the political arena.

From tribal gathering to military force

HTA, founded in July 2013 in Wadi Nahb, Gil bin Yameen district, initially emerged as a tribal response to longstanding grievances over political marginalization and resource exploitation, as well as the implementation of decisions made during a comprehensive tribal conference.

Led by Sheikh Saad bin Habrish al-Ali, the alliance quickly gained traction as a local expression of discontent in Yemen’s largest governorate.

According to Sabri Salmeen bin Makhashen, an HTA leader and editor-in-chief at Al-Muharrar newspaper:

“The alliance is an independent Hadhramaut framework, which derives its legitimacy from the field and the will of the people of Hadhramaut. At the same time, there is ongoing coordination with Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates within the framework of common interests, security, and stability, but all political, military, or organizational decisions are made from within Hadhrami.”

What began as a loosely organized collective quickly evolved into a formidable and disciplined force, especially after gaining the support of Saudi Arabia. Riyadh, seeking to counterbalance UAE dominance in southern Yemen, coordinated militarily and politically with the Hadhrami alliance, supplying it with logistical backing and aligning it with broader strategic interests.

However, the alliance's emergence disrupted other southern political formations. The Southern Movement (Al-Hirak) and the UAE-backed the STC saw the Hadhrami assertion of local identity as a direct threat to their projects – especially the STC’s plan to create a unified southern state under Emirati tutelage.

⭕️ Red Sea Global eyes international expansion, first project in Italy

Luxury resort developer Red Sea Global (RSG) intends to expand internationally, with its first project abroad targeting tourism and hospitality in Italy, CEO John Pagano told Reuters. He also revealed on Wednesday that he will join the board of Saudi Arabia’s NEOM mega project.

“Our ambitions are beyond just the Saudi Arabian market,” Pagano said in an exclusive interview at the Reuters NEXT Gulf summit in Abu Dhabi, noting that the Italian project aligns with RSG’s model.

When asked about the progress of the overseas deal, he replied, “That’s done, done, done, done.”

US Considering A Plan To Split Gaza Into Two With One Zone Controlled By Israel And The Other By Hamas

Under the plan, reconstruction could only happen in the Israeli-occupied area until Hamas disarms

The Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday that the US and Israel are considering a plan for Gaza that would divide the Palestinian territory into two, with one area controlled by Hamas and the other controlled by the Israeli military.

Under the plan, reconstruction could only take place in the Israeli-occupied area until Hamas disarms. “No reconstruction funds will be going into areas that Hamas still controls,” Jared Kushner, President Trump’s son-in-law who has been deeply involved in Gaza negotiations, told reporters in Israel on Tuesday.

“There are considerations happening now in the area that the IDF controls, as long as that can be secured, to start the construction as a new Gaza in order to give the Palestinians living in Gaza a place to go, a place to get jobs, a place to live,” Kushner said.

The Journal report said Arab mediators are alarmed by the plan because they fear dividing Gaza could lead to a zone of permanent Israeli control inside the Palestinian territory, and they are unlikely to commit to deploying troops as part of a peacekeeping force if the US and Israel move forward with the idea.

A long-term or permanent Israeli military occupation of parts of Gaza could also lead to the re-establishment of Jewish settlements in the Strip, something settler leaders and some officials in the Israeli government have made clear they want.

ICJ Finds Israel 'Failing Legal Duty' In Gaza, 'May Never Invoke Security' To Block Aid Shipments

Israeli authorities have allowed only a small fraction of the agreed-upon aid shipments into Gaza under the pretext of security

The International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruled on 22 October that Israel, as the occupying power in Gaza, is legally obliged to ensure the local population is adequately supplied with essential goods and services and to support relief efforts carried out by UN agencies.

This includes the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), which has been responsible for providing relief and assistance to Palestinian refugees and remains deeply integrated into Gaza’s local infrastructure, supplying food, water, healthcare, and shelter.

Presiding judge Yuji Iwasawa, delivering the ruling at The Hague, said Israel “may never invoke reasons of security to justify the general suspension of all humanitarian activities in occupied territory.”

He stressed that the occupying power must “use all means at its disposal so that these items are distributed in a regular, fair, and non-discriminatory manner,” and must refrain from violence against civilians seeking relief.

The court found that Palestinians in Gaza “have been inadequately supplied within the meaning of Article 59 of the Fourth Geneva Convention,” and ordered Israel to “agree to and facilitate relief schemes” provided by the UN and other impartial humanitarian bodies.

Israel Defies ICJ Ruling, Vows To Bar UNRWA From Gaza

A senior Israeli official declared on Thursday that “UNRWA will no longer set foot in Gaza,” openly defying a ruling by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) that ordered Tel Aviv to facilitate UN relief efforts for Palestinians trapped under siege.

Speaking to KAN News, the official repeated Israel’s long-standing accusations that UN agencies in Gaza had “either been a massive failure or taken over by Hamas,” and said the occupation had already informed Washington “in the hope that the Americans will see eye to eye with Israel on this issue.”

The ICJ on Wednesday dismissed those claims, affirming that UNRWA remains indispensable for delivering aid to Gaza’s displaced population and that no other body can replace its role.

Knesset Passes Two West Bank Annexation Bills In ‘Embarrassment’ To Netanyahu

The prime minister’s opposition to the bills comes as US officials have been warning Tel Aviv against implementing its annexation plans

Israel’s Knesset passed two West Bank annexation bills on 22 October following preliminary readings, despite opposition from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his Likud party.

The first bill called for applying Israeli “sovereignty” over all settlements in the occupied West Bank. It passed with 25–24 votes in the Knesset.

A more limited bill focusing on the annexation of the Maale Adumim settlement passed with a vote of 32–9. Both bills require another three readings.

All members of Netanyahu’s Likud boycotted the vote except for MK Yuli Edelstein.

“Israeli sovereignty in all parts of our homeland is the order of the day,” Edelstein said in a statement.
