When People Have Legitimate Grievances, Calling Them A Bigot Does Not Magically Make Those Grievances Go Away, It Only Makes Those People Angrier People With Legitimate Grievances. Normal People Will See This And Be More Persuaded By The Side That Has A Point Than The Side That Baselessly Smears People.

This is also true when the accusation is antisemitism. People have every right to object to Israel’s horrific treatment of the Palestinian people and the outrageous levels of influence a foreign government has over our domestic politics. If you are genuinely concerned about a rise in hatred of Jews, your number one priority should be to allow people to express these very legitimate grievances. The last thing in the world you would want to do is smear the people, who do not hate Jews but have these grievances, as antisemites.

Calling Candace Owens “antisemite of the year” is a joke. It’s every bit as stupid as woke 20 yr olds calling Ben Shapiro racist for citing crime stats. Even worse, it’s done by non 20 year olds, who claim to understand the lesson I just mentioned about baseless accusations of bigotry. It’s often done by people who have themselves been the victims of these smears.

If you have a problem with views that Candace or anyone else has, here’s a novel idea: You have to actually take on their arguments. Just shrieking “racist” is for pathetic children.

Israel To Deploy Remotely Operated Machine Guns Against Palestinians In Occupied West Bank

National Security Minister Itamar Gen Gvir, along with other Israeli officials, have been preparing Jewish settlers for war to expel Palestinians from the occupied West Bank and eliminate the possibility of a Palestinian state

The Israeli army is preparing to deploy automated, remotely monitored machine guns to protect illegal Jewish settlements in the occupied West Bank, Israeli Army Radio reported on 15 December.

The automated weapons, developed by Rafael Combat Systems, will be installed on watch towers around dozens of settlements and near their entrances. They will be controlled remotely from command centers "to prevent armed attacks and infiltration operations."

The same system was installed on the Gaza border in 2008 and operated by spotters in bases. However, it failed to prevent fighters from the Islamic Resistance movement, Hamas, from approaching and breaching the barrier fence to attack settlements and Israeli military bases on 7 October 2023.

During Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, Qassam Brigades fighters reportedly used attack drones to disable the automated weapons during the first hours of the operation.

The army will first deploy the weapons in locations it defines as ‘high-risk,’ and expand their deployment over time to include additional locations.

Niger Junta Suspends BBC Accusing It Of 'Spreading False News' In Coverage Of Attack — ABC

Niger’s ruling junta suspended the BBC for three months over its coverage of an extremist attack that allegedly killed dozens of Nigerien soldiers and civilians

DAKAR, Senegal -- Niger's ruling junta suspended the BBC for three months over the broadcaster's coverage of an extremist attack that allegedly killed dozens of Nigerien soldiers and civilians, authorities said Thursday.

“BBC broadcasts false information aimed at destabilizing social calm and undermining the troops' morale,” communications minister Raliou Sidi Mohamed said in letters to radio stations that rebroadcast BBC content. Mohamed asked the stations to suspend BBC's programs “with immediate effect.”

The BBC said it had no comment on the suspension.

Popular BBC programs, including those in Hausa — the most-spoken language in Niger — are broadcast in the Central African country through local radio partners to reach a large audience across the region.

The British broadcaster had reported on its website in Hausa on Wednesday that gunmen had killed more than 90 Nigerien soldiers and more than 40 civilians in two villages near the border with Burkina Faso.

The French broadcaster Radio France International, also known as RFI, also reported on the attack, calling it a jihadi attack and citing the same death toll.

Niger's authorities denied that an attack happened in the area in a statement read on state television and said it would file a complain against RFI for “incitement to genocide.”

Niger, along with its neighbors Burkina Faso and Mali, has for over a decade battled an insurgency fought by jihadi groups, including some allied with al-Qaida and the Islamic State group. Following military coups in all three nations in recent years, the ruling juntas have expelled French forces and turned to Russia’s mercenary units for security assistance.

But the security situation in the Sahel has worsened since the juntas took power, analysts say, with a record number of attacks and civilians killed both by Islamic militants and government forces.

Meanwhile, the ruling juntas have cracked down on political dissent and journalists. Earlier this year, Malian authorities banned the media from reporting on the activities of political parties and associations. Burkina Faso suspended the BBC and Voice of America radio stations for their coverage of a mass killing of civilians carried out by the country’s armed forces.

UN Envoy Meets HTS Leader, Calls For 'Credible Political Transition' In Syria

Geir Pederson met with Abu Mohammad al-Julani, a UN-designated terrorist with a $10 million US bounty for his capture, in Damascus to discuss the future of Syria

The UN Special Envoy to Syria, Geir Pedersen, met with Ahmad al-Sharaa, the leader of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), and Mohammad al-Bashir, the head of Syria's interim government, in Damascus on 16 December.

In a statement, the Office of the UN special envoy to syria announced, “The Special Envoy, Mr. Geir Pedersen, is in Damascus. He has so far met with Mr. Ahmad al-Sharaa, leader of the new administration, and Mr. Mohammad al-Bashir, head of the caretaker government.”

Sharaa, previously known as the Syrian Al-Qaeda leader Abu Mohammad al-Julani, a UN-designated terrorist, took control of Syria on 8 December following a two-week lightning offensive launched by his militants from the HTS stronghold of Idlib in late November.

The UN Envoy emphasized “the need for an inclusive and credible political transition, led and owned by Syrians, based on the principles of UN Security Council Resolution 2254 (2015).”

Pederson was briefed on the challenges and priorities facing the country and reaffirmed the UN's commitment to providing all possible assistance to the Syrian people.

Assad Issues First Statement Since Fleeing Syria Over A Week Ago

Former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad released a statement that detailed his final movement in Syria before fleeing to Russia. Assad and his family left the country after al-Qaeda-affiliated forces overran Damascus.

“I remained in Damascus, carrying out my duties until the early hours of Sunday, 8th December 2024. As terrorist forces infiltrated Damascus, I moved to Latakia in coordination with our Russian allies to oversee combat operations.” The statement continues, “Upon arrival at the Hmeimim airbase that morning, it became clear that our forces had completely withdrawn from all battle lines and that the last army positions had fallen.”

Assad said the Russian base he was at came under attack, forcing him to flee the country. “As the field situation in the area continued to deteriorate, the Russian military base itself came under intensified attack by drone strikes,” it said. “With no viable means of leaving the base, Moscow requested that the base’s command arrange an immediate evacuation to Russia on the evening of Sunday 8th December.”

The Syria War, beginning in 2011, has claimed the lives of hundreds of thousands of Syrians as regional and global powers entered the conflict to achieve their own interests. Since the fall of the Islamic State’s caliphate in 2019, the battlelines in Syria froze with Assad in control of major cities, the al-Qaeda affiliated forces under Turkish protection in the north, and the Kurdish forces under American protection in the East.

Additionally, Assad’s forces remained subject to frequent aerial Israeli and US bombardment. Washington placed a strict sanctions regime on Damascus as well, aimed at preventing the rebuilding of the war-torn nation and destroying the country’s economy.

Assad’s government, weakened by external forces and corruption, was unable to withstand an offensive launched by the al-Qaeda-linked Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), aided by Turkey and Ukraine. It appears that Assad’s army was largely unwilling to fight and fled in the face of the terrorist forces. HTS was able to conquer many of Syria’s largest cities in less than two weeks.

In the statement, the deposed Syrian leader said that part of the reason his forces crumbled so quickly was false information he fled Damcause prior to his evacuation. “As terrorism spread across Syria and ultimately reached Damascus on the evening of Saturday, 7th December 2024, questions arose about the president’s fate and whereabouts.” He added, “This occurred amidst a flood of misinformation and narratives far removed from the truth, aimed at recasting international terrorism as a liberation revolution for Syria.”

1. On December 12, CNN published a report noscriptd “CNN witnesses moment Syrian prisoner is freed from Assad's forced detention”

The video shows Clarissa Ward in a Damascus prison, accompanied by an armed individual, discovering a man who claims to be Adel Gharbal from Homs. He alleges that he was arrested three months earlier and transferred shortly before the fall of Assad’s regime.

The man, who allegedly had been hiding under his blanket despite the sound of gunfire from the armed man unlocking his cell, claimed that he hadn’t seen light for three months. However, the reaction of his eyes to the light suggested otherwise, as he didn’t even blink when he looked at the sky.
