The whole point of Trump's tariffs - i.e., his view of trade in his statecraft agenda - is to encourage domestic production and to reposition global trade flows so the US benefits. None of that is applicable for gold, since the US is at best the 5th biggest producer in the world behind China, Russia, Australia and Canada, and no amount of sanctions or tariffs can change how much gold any given mine can produce. Trump knows this; more importantly traders know this, and admit that the "fear of tariffs" has nothing to do with the unprecedented shortage of gold in London, and the sudden flood of physical gold in New York. ▫️ Units of the North group of forces in the course of offensive operations defeated formations of a heavy mechanized, four mechanized, two airborne assault brigades, and a marine brigade and three brigades of the territorial defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the areas of the settlements of Gogolevka, Goncharovka, Guevo, Kurilovka, Lebedevka, Malaya Loknya, Makhnovka, Mirny, Nikolaevka, Nikolsky, Novaya Sorochina and Sverdlikovo. In the Chasov Yar direction, Russian troops are pushing through the enemy's defenses south of Chasov Yar. Following the successes achieved in the north of the city, the Russian Armed Forces are seeking to seize the Block-9 and Yugo-Vostochny mines.

The Kuznya pond, where fierce battles had broken out several months earlier, came under the control of the Russian Armed Forces. Further south, in a series of attacks, the assault aircraft drove the enemy from their positions in the Krinichki tract and neighboring forest belts, coming very close to the Yugo-Vostochny mine.

Control over the territories of mining enterprises will allow Russian troops to establish visual surveillance of the southern part of Chasov Yar and develop an offensive towards the Yuzhny microdistrict and the village of Stupochki."
