Last week, we held a two-day training session on the Basic of Facilitation. During the training, our colleagues gained insights into effective techniques to achieve group objectives as soon as possible.

Save the main fundamental principles of exceptional facilitation from our experts:
1⃣ Preparation: it's crucial to define clear meeting goals, create a discussion plan, and formulate relevant questions for the group before your meeting.
2⃣ Neutrality and objectivity: a skilled facilitator is an impartial guide who aids the group in collaborating and finding optimal solutions to challenges.
3⃣ Appropriate communication: maintaining an appropriate tone of voice is essential for creating a safe and trusting environment.
4⃣ Establishing and agreeing on rules: set ground rules for the meeting and ensure that all participants agree with them.
5⃣ Active listening: encourage a balanced discussion by listening more than speaking, and value input from each participant.

Would you like to change careers and explore a new field?

Let us introduce our colleague Nikolai, who is a software engineer specializing in Python at Quantori. He moved into IT from experimental physics and now works at Quantori, contributing to the development of the global health sector.

Nikolai spent about 5 years on his transition. During this period, he attended various courses, received certifications and created a professional network that allowed him to join the Quantori professional community.

Nikolay knows how challenging it is to get used to a new industry and conquer it together with experienced IT specialists.

He shared his insights on how non-IT professionals can write a standout resume and succeed in interviews. Here are his top recommendations:

1. If you lack resume writing experience, try to find someone who does. Many mentoring sites offer free help that can make things easier for you.

2. Focus on your projects rather than job noscripts and highlight your accomplishments.

3. Don't list your entire work history; demonstrate relevant experience over the past few years.

4. You can use ChatGPT to improve your resume. Ask the tool to proofread and correct typos and errors, and format your resume.

5. When it comes to interviews, the advice remains the same: find someone working at the company who can talk about the interview process and what to focus on.

6. Be sure to prepare and practice answers to typical behavioral interview questions. Remembering key points is a good strategy.

7. Familiarity with the STAR method for answering questions can help you during interviews by providing a structured approach to demonstrating your skills and experience, making you a more attractive candidate.

Save the advice and start building a successful career in IT!
We remind you that all open vacancies you can find on our career portal.

We are excited to announce a new article published in the Frontiers journal that researches how the design of Prosthetic heart valves (PHV) could be improved by using ML algorithms plus optimization algorithms.

The proposed approach significantly reduces the error rate and allows to achieve around 95 % of the PHV design score, selecting the most beneficial geometry of the medical device for patients. The solution evaluates eight different machine learning methods, including decision tree-based and boosting algorithms, neural networks, and ensembles.

Kudos to Viacheslav Danilov, Lead Data Scientist; Alexander Proutski, Lead Data Scientist; Yuriy Gankin, Chief Scientific Officer, and their co-authors.

We ask ChatGPT to name the top three developers' frights that might send shivers down their spine:

1. Syntax Nightmares: Picture this - lines of code intertwining in the darkest corners of a labyrinthine program. The fear of facing missing semicolons, brackets, or an errant comma sends chills down the bravest developer's spine!

2. The Ghost of Bugs Past: Remember the haunting specter of a bug that you just can't seem to squash? Its presence lurks in the code, casting an eerie shadow over the progress of every new feature, just waiting to surface when you least expect it.

3. The Crypt of Infinite Meetings: Ah, the dreaded dungeon of endless meetings! Developers, chained to their seats, forced to endure meeting after meeting, each one more terrifyingly endless than the last, draining the life force from their creativity.

May your Halloween be filled with treats! Keep the debuggers close and beware of the haunted legacy code. Have a spook-tacular Halloween!👻

Read the new Quantori blog article “How to dig up more data for your medical research” by Steven Labkoff, Global Head, Clinical and Healthcare Informatics.

No matter how diligently you push forward in your research, insufficient data might hinder your progress. This challenge is particularly critical in the healthcare domain.

To derive therapeutic insights from medical records, researchers often require data from hundreds to thousands of patient cases, collected and processed from various sources. When initial evidence is limited, it can lead to skewed and biased conclusions.

In the article we discuss the Quantori strategy for acquiring more data for further analysis. Learn more here.
