We are excited to announce a new article published in the Frontiers journal that researches how the design of Prosthetic heart valves (PHV) could be improved by using ML algorithms plus optimization algorithms.

The proposed approach significantly reduces the error rate and allows to achieve around 95 % of the PHV design score, selecting the most beneficial geometry of the medical device for patients. The solution evaluates eight different machine learning methods, including decision tree-based and boosting algorithms, neural networks, and ensembles.

Kudos to Viacheslav Danilov, Lead Data Scientist; Alexander Proutski, Lead Data Scientist; Yuriy Gankin, Chief Scientific Officer, and their co-authors.

We ask ChatGPT to name the top three developers' frights that might send shivers down their spine:

1. Syntax Nightmares: Picture this - lines of code intertwining in the darkest corners of a labyrinthine program. The fear of facing missing semicolons, brackets, or an errant comma sends chills down the bravest developer's spine!

2. The Ghost of Bugs Past: Remember the haunting specter of a bug that you just can't seem to squash? Its presence lurks in the code, casting an eerie shadow over the progress of every new feature, just waiting to surface when you least expect it.

3. The Crypt of Infinite Meetings: Ah, the dreaded dungeon of endless meetings! Developers, chained to their seats, forced to endure meeting after meeting, each one more terrifyingly endless than the last, draining the life force from their creativity.

May your Halloween be filled with treats! Keep the debuggers close and beware of the haunted legacy code. Have a spook-tacular Halloween!👻

Read the new Quantori blog article “How to dig up more data for your medical research” by Steven Labkoff, Global Head, Clinical and Healthcare Informatics.

No matter how diligently you push forward in your research, insufficient data might hinder your progress. This challenge is particularly critical in the healthcare domain.

To derive therapeutic insights from medical records, researchers often require data from hundreds to thousands of patient cases, collected and processed from various sources. When initial evidence is limited, it can lead to skewed and biased conclusions.

In the article we discuss the Quantori strategy for acquiring more data for further analysis. Learn more here.
