📝 Among the causes of a good ending is avoiding injustice

🎙Ash-Shaykh Abee Abdirahman Radmaan Al-Hubayshee (حفظه الله)

For a good ending (husn al-khatimah), one must avoid oppression avoid injustice, tyranny, and aggression against others in their lives, wealth, and honor. Whoever Allaah, Blessed and Exalted, grants success to stay away from oppression, tyranny, and aggression, He will grant that person a good ending.

In the two authentic collections (Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim), from Abdullah ibn ‘Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him), the Messenger of Allaah (ﷺ)said:

“A Muslim is the one from whose tongue and hand other Muslims are safe, and a Muhajir (emigrant) is the one who abandons what Allah has forbidden.”

This is the true Muslim the one from whose tongue and hand people are safe; he does not harm them by word or by deed.

Thus, avoiding injustice is one of the means of being granted a good ending.

For this reason, the Prophet (ﷺ) warned against the supplication of the oppressed.

As reported in the authentic Hadith from Ibn ‘Abbas (may Allaah be pleased with him), the Prophet (ﷺ )said:

“Beware of the supplication of the oppressed, for there is no barrier between it and Allaah.”


The supplication of the oppressed strikes the oppressor it reaches him and brings harm upon him.

Indeed, oppression is one of the causes of an evil end we seek refuge in Allaah, Lord of the worlds.

Likewise, tyranny and aggression against people are among the causes of an evil end, for the Prophet (ﷺ)said:

“There is no sin more likely to bring swift punishment upon its doer than tyranny and severing the ties of kinship.”

Tyranny aggression against people without right and severing family ties are among the causes that hasten punishment.

Allaah the Exalted says:

“O people, your transgression is only against yourselves.”

(Yunus 10:23)

Ibn ‘Abbas (may Allaah be pleased with him) said:

“If a mountain were to transgress against another mountain, Allaah would destroy the one that committed the transgression.”

Allaah, Blessed and Exalted, does not approve of oppression; Allaah does not approve of tyranny; and Allaah does not approve of aggression against people whether concerning their lives, their wealth, or their honor.

Therefore, whoever desires to be granted a good end should stay far away from oppression.

“Indeed, a servant will experience great joy on the Day of Resurrection because of the rights he has over people whether in matters of wealth, self, or honor."

The intelligent person therefore regards these rights as a treasure stored up for the Day of poverty and need, and does not nullify them through revenge, which brings him no real benefit.”

Then it will be called out to him: “O so-and-so, does this hurt you?” He will say: “Yes.” It will be said: “This is because you used to harm the believers.”

وردود العرس تبسم بالتهاني

On a day when longed-for wishes have come true.

(Like the springtime among the seasons of the year).

So, O son of Shaykh Radman, congratulations
Upon you gleam the bracelets of pure pearls.

In your joy, verses and meanings grow more beautiful.

Your face, with the purity of the wedding, is serene,
Shining like finely polished Yemeni silver.

Welcome, indeed, to noble guests For in our hearts you hold the highest place.

👉 “The scholar and the learner are equal in reward, and there is no good in anything besides them.”

Shaykh Ibn ʿUthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:


👉 “Know may Allaah have mercy on you that whoever among you attends even one session of knowledge, learns a single issue, acts upon it, and teaches it to his brothers, then he will attain great good.

He will continue to receive its reward and the reward of those who act upon it until the Day of Resurrection.

Do not think that the virtue of knowledge is only for those who study extensively, for indeed Allaah Almighty will reward every person for his deeds, even if they are small ‘and the least injustice, even to the size of a speck on the back of a date-stone An-Nisa 124).

The Prophet (ﷺ)said: ‘Convey from me, even if [it is only] one verse.’”

Among the early righteous (the Salaf), if one of them attended a funeral, he would not eat dinner due to how strongly it reminded him of death.

As for us, we attend both dinner and breakfast,
adding to that loud laughter and speaking about people’s honor.”

O servants of Allaah, silence in the presence of great people is dignity and reverence.

With one’s parents, speaking only when they speak is an act of dutifulness and obedience.

And in disputes between spouses, silence is a protection from division and conflict.

In family relationships, it preserves affection and love.

Have you not heard Allaah's words about Yusuf? said about him: “But Yusuf kept it within himself and did not reveal it to them.” Yusuf, peace be upon him, did not show what was in his heart of pain, hurt, or reproach, out of regard for the bond of brotherhood.

“But Yusuf kept it within himself and did not reveal it to them.”

This is the essence of wisdom: silence during family disputes and internal conflicts.

“Keeping company with the wicked and the lowly is among the things that damage one’s dignity.

For the Prophet ((ﷺ))said: ‘Do not accompany except a believer, and let none eat your food except a righteous person.’

And he((ﷺ)) said: ‘A person is upon the religion of his close companion.’

So accompanying the wicked and the lowly is among the things that blemish one’s dignity.

If you see a person walking with the wicked, do not feel safe from his harm.

For a companion influences the one he accompanies; the friend pulls his friend; temperament is thievish; and whoever sits with people adopts their ways.

And in the hadith: ‘A person is upon the religion of his close companion, so let one of you look at whom he befriends.’”

One of the jurists even said: “I spent years longing for harīsa, [ savory dish of pounded wheat and meat] yet I could not have it, because the time it was sold was the time of attending the lesson!”

Among the types of Allaah’s protection of His servant in matters of religion is that a person may pursue some worldly cause such as a position of authority, trade, or anything similar yet Allaah turns him away from what he intended because He knows that his well-being lies elsewhere, even though the person does not realize it and dislikes being prevented from it.

Ibn Masʿūd said:

“A servant may resolve to undertake a matter of trade or leadership until it is made easy for him, and then Allaah looks at him and says to the angels:

‘Turn it away from him, for if I make it easy for him I will admit him into the Fire.

’ So Allaah turns it away from him, and he remains blaming others, saying: ‘So-and-so beat me to it, so-and-so outwitted me,’ while in reality it is nothing but the grace of Allaah, the Mighty and Majestic.”

Shaykh Al-Islām Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him) said:

Allaah the Exalted said: “Indeed, My servants you have no authority over them, except those who follow you of the deviant.”

And He said: “Indeed, he has no authority over those who believe and put their trust in their Lord.

His authority is only over those who take him as an ally and those who through him associate others with Allaah.”


So He made it clear that Shatan’s authority and his misguidance apply only to those who are not sincere. For this reason, He said in the story of Yusuf: “Thus We averted from him evil and immorality. Indeed, he was one of Our sincere servants.”
