#stream protesters on megaphone giving speech. "I'm here because I am able, and he's my family, my community."
#stream shout out to the people who are bloc'ing up and concealing their faces, making the cops jobs harder especially if you could end up in a live stream. Remember, they don't care if you do anything illegal or not, they'll try to arrest you anyway. Stay vigilant, conceal your face and any identifying markers!
#stream "if we don't get no justice, they don't get no peace. If we don't get it, shut it down!"
#stream seeing the mutual aid setup of food and snacks and water for protesters, thanks to everyone who donated to the cause!
#ground reports that the undercovers are back and may be affiliated with news3. Unclear if security or UCs working with the media. Stay vigilant!
#stream there's about five people left at the protest BBQ site as we reach curfew
#admin our streams and scanners are quiet, and we hope everyone out there is okay. Stay together, stay vigilant!
#admin reminder as we hit curfew, if you're still otg: take an indirect route home and be aware that marked or unmarked police units may follow you or note your plates. Know your rights and know that if you get pulled over, you don't have to tell the cop where you were tonight.
#scanners reports of patrols heading back to their hotels. This would be the very unwelcome out of town guests that can get out and get bent.
#admin we're heading offline. Hope you all fostered community relationships today! Building community is a revolutionary act.

How to win at kettling – a guide for non-policemen
Created January 2011
"But how, exactly, do you play kettling? Well, first you'll need to split into two teams – attackers and defenders. Team A, the defenders, will be formed of disparate groups of individuals with broadly similar but occasionally conflicting aims. So as to best identify themselves, they should wear hoodies, masks and an expression of determined optimism. For Team A the aim of the game is to remain free and at liberty for as long as possible while expressing their opposition to the status quo.
The offensive team, Team B, will be smaller in number, better armed, and dressed like angry glowsticks. The aim of the game for Team B is to trap Team A in as small a space as possible and stop them from leaving, thereby eliminating their right to free expression. [...]"

"Police can encircle all or some demonstrators in order to make multiple simultaneous arrests. This is to be done after demonstrators are allowed an opportunity to disperse.
Oakland Police used this tactic on several occasions. This tactic resulted in most of the 700 or so arrests since Occupy started. On January 28, 2012, officers kettled protesters at 19th and Telegraph, and the YMCA, but did not allow marchers to disperse, as witnessed by Oakland North Reporter John Osborn."

#admin Elizabeth City! Comms team had some technical difficulties but we're jumping on streams and scanners now, we got your back.
#otg reports two arrests recently. We're getting set up to keep you updated now. Stay strong, stay safe, stay powerful.
#stream Kerwin's live stream is having technical difficulties. No stress, fb live is terrible. Scanners are quiet
#stream march is stalled in mobil gas station parking lot, blue police lights visible. Lot of tension. They're on the sidewalk and obeying the law, cops have NO reason to interfere
#stream cops are staying much more visible than prior nights. Seeing them drive past march a lot. March is struggling to stay together and cohesive.
These freedom fighters have to be tired after 11 days out there holding it down. So much love for them.

#stream organizers are reminding all on the ground not to give cops any reason to say they're violent, to stay focused and peaceful. They're especially asking white allies to follow the organizers lead because BIPOC will face the consequences vid white people misbehave. Very important point
