StandWithUs UK Statement on Arrest of Oxford Student for Inciting Hate
StandWithUs UK welcomes the swift action taken by law enforcement and the University of Oxford following the arrest of a student who was filmed chanting inflammatory and hateful messages during a protest in London on 11 October 2025.
The language used in these chants was not political expression but an incitement of hate that targets Jewish people and those who support the right of Israel to exist. Such rhetoric fuels fear within the Jewish community and contributes to a toxic atmosphere on British campuses.
This incident demonstrates why our Voice of Students recommendations are urgently needed. In particular:
Recognition – Institutions must acknowledge the clear link between anti-Zionism and antisemitism. Denying Jewish people the right to national self-determination or using “Zionist” as a slur perpetuates prejudice.
Accountability – Universities must act decisively and transparently when hate speech occurs within their communities.
Expulsion – Those who promote or incite hatred and violence against any group should face firm disciplinary measures, including expulsion when appropriate.
When British students celebrate a massacre, it is first and foremost a national problem. It is not just a Jewish problem. A society that rejoices in the murder of human beings is a society in moral collapse.
We call on all universities across the United Kingdom to adopt policies that ensure Jewish students feel safe, supported and respected on campus. Words of hate have no place in our academic institutions.

Finally, together again! British-Israeli @EmilyDamari1 , who survived 471 days as a hostage in Gaza, has reunited with her friends Gali and Ziv Berman from her home kibbutz of Kfar Aza in southern Israel. From that moment, our journey in captivity was separated. I was held captive with children, women, and the elderly, while Avinatan was held alone. I was mostly kept inside houses, while Avinatan was only in the tunnels. Hamas released videos and signs of life from me, while there was no information at all about Avinatan. I was held captive by Hamas for 246 days, while Avinatan was held for 738 days. I came back in a heroic rescue operation, and Avinatan returned in a deal.
But both of us, against all odds, came home and were reunited!
I cannot put into words the range of emotions I felt when I saw him for the first time after so long. Each of us faced death countless times, and yet, after two years apart, we are finally taking our first steps together again in the State of Israel.
At last, we can begin our healing together. The recovery will be long; we still haven’t truly processed what has happened here over these past two years. But we won. We won our personal war, and the war of all those who fought alongside us to reach this moment. And now, the time has come to begin our shared journey together.
I want to say a huge thank you, first and foremost, to the @IDF soldiers and security forces who have been fighting for so long and risk their lives for us every single day. Thank you to our family, friends, and to the people of Israel, Am
Yisrael, who raised their voices when we couldn’t speak. To the people around the world who embraced us, to all the incredible individuals who supported us through the hardest times and never lost hope throughout this long period. Ontem (15), a StandWithUs Brasil, em parceria com o Ministério da Cultura, realizou em São Paulo a exibição do documentário “Um Shabat na Outra Margem do Rio”, dirigido por Diego Lajst. O filme revela a presença histórica dos judeus marroquinos na Amazônia brasileira, uma comunidade que mantém tradições e rituais vivos há mais de dois séculos, mesmo diante dos desafios da floresta.
A sessão, realizada no Reserva Cultural, reuniu cerca de 200 pessoas. Após a exibição, o público participou de um bate-papo com o diretor Diego Lajst, o gerente de conteúdo da StandWithUs Brasil, Igor Sabino, e Marcia Rubinstein, judia amazonense e uma das personagens do documentário.
Depois de São Paulo, o documentário segue em circuito nacional. Nesta quinta-feira (16), ocorre uma sessão em Belém, com inscrições já encerradas, e na próxima segunda (20), será a vez de Manaus, no Manauara Shopping.
