O representante da Organização Mundial da Saúde (OMS) em Israel, Dr. Michel Thieren, revelou ter presenciado discussões dentro de organismos internacionais da Organização das Nações Unidas (ONU), em dezembro de 2023, para declarar situação de fome generalizada na Faixa de Gaza. O objetivo era exercer pressão política sobre Israel para que o país fosse obrigado a encerrar a guerra contra o Hamas.

Em entrevista ao podcast francês Mosaïque na semana passada, Thieren afirmou ter ficado “chocado” ao perceber que, “desde 8 de outubro de 2023, já haviam sido designados os culpados e as vítimas”.

De acordo com o relato, durante uma reunião multilateral em Genebra, em dezembro de 2023, foi debatido “como demonstrar cientificamente a ocorrência de uma situação de fome” e “como empregar o termo na comunicação internacional” para influenciar a opinião pública contra Israel. Segundo ele, isso foi discutido explicitamente nos mais altos escalões nessas reuniões.

Thieren disse que o episódio evidenciou uma postura enviesada e que o discurso em torno das ações israelenses vinha sendo tratado “com certo prazer” em órgãos da ONU; o que, segundo ele, é um claro indício de antissemitismo. Não se tratava, portanto, de haver fome ou não; mas de uma narrativa contra Israel definida desde o início da guerra.

A trágica morte do jornalista Vlado Herzog, em 1975, vem sendo utilizada há anos de maneira indevida em debates políticos. O problema, agora, é maior: o episódio serve de pano de fundo para algumas pessoas alfinetarem a comunidade judaica.

Foi o que fez Juca Kfoury quando, em seu texto na Folha de S.Paulo da última segunda (27), cobrou a presença de representantes de entidades judaicas no ato inter-religioso que marcou os 50 anos da morte de Vlado, realizado no sábado (25). Juca não deve ter olhado para o lado, pois fotos e vídeos mostram que ele estava bem perto do presidente da Confederação Israelita do Brasil (Conib), Claudio Lottenberg. O jornal se viu, então, obrigado a publicar um “Erramos” e ainda editou o texto na sua versão online.

Não dá para entender a provocação. A história de Vlado se entrelaça com a do Brasil e com a dos judeus que vivem aqui. Foi marcante para todos a decisão, encabeçada pelo rabino Henry Sobel (Z’L), de não enterrar Vlado na ala reservada aos suicidas no Cemitério Israelita do Butantã. O fato de ter sobrevivido à perseguição nazista e sua morte trágica são motivos para que a memória de Vlado jamais seja esquecida... Today, Ofir Tzarfati was laid to rest for the third time:
After the remains of Ofir Tzarfati were returned to Israel on October 27, in place of one of the murdered hostages who are still held by Hamas, his family held another reburial ceremony today (Thursday), opening his grave for the third time.
“Ofir, a radiant soul with a boundless heart, continues to touch us even now,” the family said. “This moment allows us to bring closure, to honor his memory completely, and to grant him the peace and dignity he deserves.”
