The anti-communism of the Cold War era fueled the Mayan Genocide in Guatemala. The Rio Negro massacres, the worst of which took place on this day in 1982, saw the mass murder of Indigenous villagers who refused to be displaced by a World Bank-funded hydroelectric project.
Despite some of the worst human rights abuses in the history of Central America, the institutions of the "democratic West" backed the military dictatorship there to the hilt and never faced justice for it.

Putin speaking at the Red Square celebration on Crimea and the struggle of people of Novorossia

This is not just our history, our traditions and the pride of Russia.
Crimea is primarily people, the residents of Sevastopol, Crimeans.
They are our pride. They have carried the faith of the Fatherland through the decades.
They have never separated themselves from Russia, and this is what allowed Crimea to return to the composition of our common family.
But as for Novorossiya, as for Donbass, the people who lived there also declared their desire to return to their family back then, during the days of the Russian Spring.
Their journey to the Motherland turned out to be much more difficult and tragic, but we still did it.

The electronic voting system in Moscow repelled 4.6 million cyber attacks in three days.

It is noted that the infrastructure of the Public Headquarters for Monitoring the Presidential Elections was also subject to cyber attacks. In three days, information security tools blocked almost 1.3 million requests to headquarters systems with suspected malicious activity.
“Some of the attacks were carried out from botnet networks, and a large number of direct attacks were also recorded,” the report says

“Cyber attacks also did not affect the voting process. The system was available 100% of the time, everyone was able to cast their vote. All votes were delivered to the blockchain, none of them were lost or compromised,” Massukh said.

🇾🇪Houthis Expand Operations to Target Israeli-Linked Ships

The Husitians are broadening their "scope of the operation" to dismantle ships associated with Israel.

According to the International Monetary Fund, transit volume through the Suez Canal saw a significant 62% decrease in the first 10 days of March compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, trade through the Cape of Good Hope surged, more than doubling year-on-year.

However, relaxation is premature. The Houthi leader has declared their intention to target ships linked to Israel traversing the Indian Ocean en route to the Cape of Good Hope in southern Africa.

"Our main goal is to expand operations and reach areas that the enemy considers safe. We intend to prevent ships affiliated with the Israeli enemy from passing through the Indian Ocean toward the Cape of Good Hope," stated rebel leader Abdel Malik al-Husi.

Twelve ships in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden were struck this week. The movement's leader claimed a total of 73 ships have been attacked by the Houthis since last November.

From the report of J.V. Stalin on the draft Constitution of the USSR on November 25, 1936:

“Next is an addition to the 48th article of the draft Constitution. It requires the establishment of general elections to elect the Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Council. According to the draft Constitution, the Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Council is elected by the Supreme Council, and the authors of the addition propose that he be elected through general elections - so the same as the rest of the supreme bodies.

I think this amendment is wrong. It is contrary to the spirit of our Constitution and must be rejected. In our entire system we do not have, and cannot have, a single president elected by universal suffrage, a president who could oppose himself to the Supreme Council. We do not and should not have such orders. Our president is collegial. This is the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, including the Chairman of the Presidium. In my opinion, the amendment must be rejected as contrary to the very spirit of our Constitution. Only that system of organization of supreme bodies, in which the Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Council is not only elected by the Supreme Council, but is also accountable to it, only such an order can guarantee the population from all kinds of complications and accidents, which very often happen under other orders, in the West, in Europe and in America."
