Under capitalism, democracy is restricted, cramped, curtailed, mutilated by all the conditions of wage slavery and the poverty and misery of the people. This, and this alone, is the reason why the functionaries of our political organisations and trade unions are corrupted or rather tend to be corrupted by the conditions of capitalism and betray a tendency to become bureaucrats, that is, privileged persons divorced from the people and standing aboue the people. That is the essence of bureaucracy, and until the capitalists have been expropriated and the bourgeoisie overthrown, even proletarian functionaries will inevitably be 'bureaucratised' to a certain extent.

"Rafah Rafah, here we come" chanted Pro-Israel mobs along with hurling Islamophobic slurs at Pro-Palestinian protesters in Detroit, US.
The people that can chant and sing in support of the ethnic cleansing of a people are seriously disturbed.
Cheering on the firing of a missile is just as bad as pulling the trigger.
No respect or consideration should be given to these people.

NOW: Thousands of protesters are protesting in Berlin’s Neukölln district for the annual “Revolutionary May 1 Demonstration.” This year, the protest’s focal point is Israel’s ongoing war of extermination against the Gaza Strip, with a wide range of anti-fascist, socialist, and migrant organizations attending the protest.
Thousands of police officers are already present at the protest in the district of Neukölln, known for its large Palestinian community. Yesterday, authorities announced they will deploy around 6,000 police officers, employing a “zero-tolerance strategy,” to prevent any “riots.”
Recent years have seen Berlin’s May Day protests come under attack by police for various pretexts. This year, police vowed to intervene immediately in case of non-compliance with very strict conditions.

‘Mass protests’ in the streets of Georgia are not led by the masses in defence of democracy but instigated by US and EU-funded NGOs in the interests of west-backed regime change.

On May 5th 1981 the Irish revolutionary Bobby Sands died following a 66 day hunger strike. Sands began the action in order to have political status restored for Irish Republican prisoners and nine other men of the IRA and INLA also died that year following hunger strikes. Whilst imprisoned Sands won election to the British parliament as an "Anti H Block" candidate.
Sands was an Irish Republican socialist and a heroic representative of that tradition.
We salute his memory and sacrifice today.

Happy Birthday to the mastermind behind over a century of communist struggle, Karl Marx! Although Marx died in 1883, he left behind a legacy that sparked revolutions worldwide and remains the sharpest tool for the fight for liberation today: Marxism.
From the Soviet Union to China, through Africa to Latin America, across all continents, Marxism turned oppressive conditions upside down. Friedrich Engels, his closest comrade, once said of him: "Fighting was his element. And he fought with a passion, a tenacity and a success such as few could rival."
