Around 200 people gathered in response to Israel’s Rafah invasion, which threatened to take the extermination war to a new level.

Activists quickly set up a camp with food supplies and overnight accommodation, with the plan to hold an indefinite Gaza vigil next to the University of Hamburg.

In speeches, the activists emphasized the revolutionary character of the encampment movement, which is spreading worldwide and standing firm despite massive police violence. Hamburg was, at times, the peak of the German crackdown, with months of complete bans on all Palestine protests shortly after October 7.
