Most countries, Russia included, could be doing more to restore their historical heritage even on a small scale. It’s especially infuriating when such buildings are removed to build e.g. shopping areas. I remember witnessing this many times in different cities in Canada.
This is why seeing the restoration / reconstruction of this traditional Russian wood-carved house (est. 1890s) that once belonged to merchant Smirnov in Nizhny Novgorod is a joy to see! The half-collapsed “before” photo is from 2017.
