HASAN NASRALLAH DEAD - CONFIRMED BY HEZBOLLAH STATEMENT

Hasan Nasrallah, veteran Secretary-General of Hezbollah since 1992, having been a fixture in the Arab and Middle Eastern political landscape and serving longer than any current leader of an Arab nation, has now been confirmed assassinated by mass Israeli bombings yesterday in Lebanon’s capital of Beirut.

While in office, Hezbollah became the first Arab power in history to force Israel to withdraw from occupied territory, in its withdrawal from south Lebanon in 2000 after an 18-year occupation. Under his watch, Hezbollah grew to become the most powerful non-state military force in the world.

His assassination marks an arrogant escalation by Israel, as analysts describe Israel as “drunk on power”, will reshape the region’s political landscape, and may spark the all-out war Israel has yearned for.
