When we talk about the issue of Palestine, it's crucial to recognise that this is not an isolated case but part of a much larger historical pattern of European colonialism that has reshaped the world. The struggle of the Palestinian people is one chapter in a long history of colonial oppression that spans continents. This pattern is seen in the decimation and displacement of Indigenous populations across the Americas, the violent colonisation of Australia, the forced annexation of Hawaii, and countless other examples where land was seized, cultures were suppressed, and communities were systematically destroyed.
Colonialism is not just a relic of the past; its legacy continues to shape global politics and injustices today. The tactics of dispossession, the erasure of indigenous identities, and the imposition of foreign rule were and continue to be tools of imperial power. In Palestine, this legacy is vividly seen in the ongoing occupation, land confiscations, and systemic disenfranchisement of an entire people.
To fully grasp the Palestine issue, we must see it as part of this broader struggle against imperialism and colonial domination. As communists and anti-imperialist we must call for the recognition of the right of all peoples to self-determination, justice, and freedom from external control. It means standing in solidarity with those resisting occupation, whether in Palestine, the Americas, or elsewhere, and challenging the capitalist systems of power that perpetuate inequality and exploitation.
The fight for Palestine is not just a fight for a single nation but a resistance against the enduring structures of colonialism. It is a call to dismantle imperialism in all its forms and to build a world rooted in justice, equality, and respect for the sovereignty of all peoples.

“I am a fighter, not a criminal,” Abdallah declared during his 11th plea for freedom.
His scheduled release on December 6 hinges on an immediate order to leave France.
