Al Jolani visits Saudi Arabia

On his first international visit, Syria's interim president, Al Jolani, met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Riyadh yesterday. The encounter, which was captured on video, showed Al Jolani greeting the Crown Prince with a handshake before the two engaged in talks.

Mohammed bin Salman is the second Gulf leader to meet Sharaa since his appointment as president for the transitional phase last week.
Managers may not own the businesses they run, but they are not on the side of the workers. Their role is to enforce the interests of the capitalist class—extracting as much labour as possible while keeping wages down and suppressing resistance. They do not create value themselves; rather, they oversee its extraction, making sure profits flow upwards. They may share some frustrations with workers, but their loyalty lies with the system that exploits us. Their bonuses, promotions, and job security depend on how well they serve capital, not on fairness or solidarity. No matter how friendly they seem, their job is to keep us in line.

The Bolshevik slogans and ideas on the whole have been confirmed by history; but concretely things have worked out differently; they are more original, more peculiar, more variated than anyone could have expected..

The abolition of classes means placing all citizens on an equal footing with regard to the means of production belonging to society as a whole. It means giving all citizens equal opportunities of working on the publicly-owned means of production, on the publicly-owned land, at the publicly-owned factories, and so forth.

There are individuals – a mere handful in the history of mankind – who, while themselves being the product of an imminent catastrophic change, leave their mark upon an entire epoch. Vladimir Ilyich Lenin is one such giant mind, one such giant will...

However mighty such giants of history may be, the universal-general principle that they symbolise and embody dissolves all the narrowly individual. The ordinary measuring rod of the qualities, failings and passions characteristic of the people of that age is not applicable to them. It is not a question of the personal characteristics of Vladimir Ilyich Lenin but what he symbolises... He has gathered to himself like a magnet everything in the revolution that is expressive of will, power, ruthless destruction and constructive persistence. Everyone who values what the workers' revolution brings with it in its cleansing whirlwind cannot but value and cherish its symbol, its embodiment – Vladimir Ilyich Lenin.

True freedom exists only where exploitation has been abolished, where there is no oppression of some people by others, where there is no unemployment and poverty, where a person does not tremble for the fact that tomorrow he may lose his job, home, bread. Only in such a society is real, not paper, personal and any other freedom possible.

In the picture, Stalin's youngest son, Vasily, is in the cockpit of a Yak-9 aircraft with the innoscription "For Volodya!" in memory of his fallen comrade Vladimir Mikoyan.

On September 18, 1942, Lieutenant Vladimir Mikoyan, son of Politburo member of the Central Committee of the All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks) Anastas Mikoyan, went into his last air battle for the city of Stalingrad, shot down a German vulture, but did not return from the battle himself... His grave remained unknown in the Stalingrad steppes.

The children of the leaders of the Soviet Union shared the fate of the common people and fought the plague of Hitlerism in the very first ranks shoulder to shoulder with the same citizens of the USSR as themselves.

This was the secret of the steadfastness of the Soviet state headed by the great and such a popular and simple comrade Stalin.

If capitalism could adapt production not to obtaining maximum profit, but to the systematic improvement of the material conditions of the masses, if it could direct profit not to satisfying the whims of parasitic classes, not to improving methods of exploitation, not to the export of capital, but to the systematic improvement of the material conditions of workers and peasants, then there would be no crises. But then capitalism would not be capitalism.
