80 years ago on this day April 6 , 1945 Sarajevo was liberated by units of the Yugoslav Partisan 2nd and 3rd Armies. The key formations involved in the liberation included:

The 2nd Proletarian Division
The 3rd Assault Division
The 11th Krajina Division
The 29th Herzegovina Division

The battle for Sarajevo involved intense fighting against German forces (notably the 369th (Croatian) Infantry Division) and Ustaše and SS Handžar Division collaborators.

The most repulsive thing I've seen in a while is Katy Perry talking about the beauty of a pointless space trip.

The New Shepherd launch pad costs an estimated £1 billion to make and the Blue Origin aerospace company costs £100 million annually.
Imagine the amount of homes that could be purchased for those in need instead of Jeff Bezos sending shite singers into space.

On this day in 1960, mass protests erupted in the Republic of Korea (ROK). Koreans rose up against the oppressive rule of US-backed President Syngman Rhee, who governed the country since its establishment in 1948. In a matter of just 15 days, Rhee was forced to resign and fled to the US.

During Rhee’s rule the ROK witnessed numerous civilian massacres and human rights abuses perpetrated by the military, police, fascist paramilitary groups, and the US before, during, and after the Korean War (1950-1953). An estimated one million civilians were killed through mass executions and scorched-earth anti-guerrilla campaigns.

This map was produced in 2002 as part of a national campaign to pass a special law to investigate the civilian massacres in the ROK. It shows a total of 94 locations across the southern part of the peninsula where massacres occurred, although subsequent investigations revealed that the actual number of massacres was much higher, exceeding 10 times the initial estimate.
