Grup Yorum's songs have been banned from the Turkish internet for the sake of "protecting national security"!
YouTube yesterday blocked access from Turkey to all Grup Yorum videos since 2006, which have had a total of 205 million views, citing "protection of national security and public order."
Spotify has blocked access to all Grup Yorum songs on its service.
In response to these attacks, the musicians state:
"Imperialism can try as much as it wants, but it will never be able to drown out our songs!"
In Turkey, Grup Yorum songs are listened to since childhood. With their help, new generations learn the history of their people's struggle. Grup Yorum songs educate new anti-fascists and communists. The voice of Grup Yorum cannot be silenced because it is the voice of the people.

Leader of the Congolese people's struggle for national sovereignty and independence. The first Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Murdered by order of the United States of America with the hands of the Belgians.
In the USSR, and now Russia, his name and legacy is remembered by the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia named after Patrice Lumumba

The return of Comrade Stalin to pride of place in Moscow’s Taganskaya metro station is a powerful symbol of historical memory and working-class pride.
We welcome the resurgence of popular enthusiasm and reverence for the Soviet Union among the Russian people. While much of Europe tears down statues and slanders the legacy of socialism, Russia is honouring the heroes who built a workers' state and defeated fascism.
The respect shown to Comrade Stalin reflects a growing recognition of the USSR’s achievements for building a planned economy, defending socialism, and leading the world’s first successful dictatorship of the proletariat.
