🇷🇺 On May 9, the Consulate General of Russia in Chennai in coordination with the Russian Center of Science and Culture held a commemoration-cum-reception to mark the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

➡️ The representatives of the Ministry of External Affairs of India, foreign consular missions, cadets, famous public and cultural figures, businessmen, journalists and compatriots from Chennai and Bangalore attended the event.

🛡 The reception included the screening of the Victory Parade on Red Square as well as a short documentary about India's participation in World War II.

🕯 According to the local tradition, the evening was illuminated by a ceremony of lighting the lamp. For this, the dignitaries used a piece of the Eternal Flame brought to Chennai from the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the Alexander Garden near the Kremlin wall.

🎙 As part of the reception, a creative group of students from the Volgograd State Medical University performed the war-time songs.

📆 #OTD, on May 13, Russia marks the Day of the Black Sea Fleet of its Navy.

👉🏻 The date is no coincidence: on May 13, 1783, 11 ships of the Azov Naval Flotilla under the command of Vice Admiral Fedot Klokachev entered Akhtiar Bay, where that same year the military port of Sevastopol — the base of the Russian Black Sea Fleet — was founded.

🫡 The current holiday was established by order of Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Fleet Admiral Felix Gromov, №253 dated July 15, 1996.

🇷🇺🇮🇳 On May 13, DCM & Minister Counsellor of the Russian Embassy in India Roman Babushkin addressed the inaugural session of the First Russia-India AEO (Authorized Economic Operators) Seminar co-hosted by the Russian Federal Customs Service, the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs of India (CBIC) and the Federation of Indian Export Organizations (FIEO).

☝🏻 The diplomat highly appreciated the endeavors of the FIEO and the customs services of both countries to raise the awareness of the AEO initiative. According to him, it plays a very instrumental role in the promotion and diversification of bilateral trade as well as in increasing the transparency, predictability and reliability of business transactions. Roman Babushkin suggested that such events should take place on a regular basis.

💬 Among other speakers were Igor Ten, Representative of the Russian Federal Customs Service in India, Surjit Bhujabal, Member (Customs), CBIC, Ivan Nosov, CEO, Sberbank India, and SC Ralhan, President, FIEO, as well as members of the Russian Federal Customs Service’s delegation, including Deputy Head of the Main Directorate of Customs Clearance and Customs Control Alexey Tebenkov and head of the department of the Centre for Monitoring and Operational Control Lubert Ivanov.

👥 The seminar was attended by officials of the relevant Indian ministries and government agencies, representatives of local business circles, and the media.
