🇷🇺🇮🇳On September 30, Mr. Maxim Kozlov, Russian Consul General in Kolkata, met Ms. Supriya Nayak, the famous Indian Odia-actress, ahead of her visit to Moscow to participate in the Second Festival of Indian Cinema in Russia.

🎬Ms. Nayak starred in the film “Pushkara”, which received the ‘Best Odia Film' award at the 71st National Film Awards this year.

🎞Included in this year’s festival program, the film is directed by Subhransu Das and is based on writer Sankar Tripathy's Odia novel ‘Nadabindu' (2004).

🗓 On October 7, 2002, during the CIS Summit in Chisinau, the Leaders of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Tajikistan approved the Charter of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO).

According to that document, the 1992 Collective Security Treaty (CST) was transformed into an international organisation.

The history of the #CSTO dates back to May 15, 1992, when the heads of Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan signed the CST in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Later, in 1993, Azerbaijan, Belarus, and Georgia joined the Treaty. The CST entered into force on April 20, 1994, after the completion of national ratification procedures.

The Treaty represented a regional agreement that has since played a significant role in maintaining close cooperation and mutual understanding in the military and political fields among the CSTO Member-States.

In December 2003, the Organisation’s Charter was registered with the UN Secretariat, and in 2004 the CSTO obtained observer status with the #UNGA.

The adoption of the Charter outlined the main CSTO goals:

• strengthening peace, international and regional security,
• protecting independence, territorial integrity, and sovereignty of the Member-States.

The Charter of CSTO emphasises the priority of political means over military tools and the voluntary nature of participation in the Organisation’s activities.

Today, the CSTO includes:

🇦🇲 the Republic of Armenia
🇧🇾 the Republic of Belarus
🇰🇿 the Republic of Kazakhstan
🇰🇬 Kyrgyz Republic
🇷🇺 the Russian Federation
🇹🇯 the Republic of Tajikistan (Dushanbe renewed its membership in the Organisation in the summer of 2006).

A coherent and efficiently functioning structure has been established within the #CSTO. As it continues to evolve, the Organisation’s legal and institutional framework is being strengthened.

The Member-States coordinate their efforts in combatting international terrorism, extremism, and other emerging challenges and threats. Military cooperation within the CSTO is developing dynamically.

The coordinated efforts of the CSTO peacekeeping forces in assisting Kazakhstan (at Astana’s request) in stabilising the internal political situation in the country in January 2022, when the republic faced a threat to its sovereignty, including due to foreign interference, proved the Organisation’s effectiveness in maintaining peace, regional stability, and security of its Member-States.

🇷🇺 Further strengthening the CSTO’s capabilities and deepening the allied cooperation within the union of six fraternal countries — Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan — remains a priority of the Russian Federation’s foreign policy.

⚡️ Joint statement by Participants of the Moscow Format Consultations on Afghanistan (Moscow, October 7, 2025)

💬 On October 7th, 2025, the 7th meeting of the Moscow Format Consultations on Afghanistan was held in Moscow at the level of special representatives and senior officials of Afghanistan, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. A delegation from Belarus attended the meeting as guests.

For the first time the Afghan delegation headed by Foreign Minister Amir Khan Mottaqi participated in the meeting as a member.

❗️ The parties reaffirmed their unwavering support for the establishment of Afghanistan as an independent, united and peaceful state.

The parties noted the need for development of economic and trade exchanges, investment cooperation of Afghanistan with regional countries and the international community. They expressed their interest in developing regional economic projects with Afghan participation and promoting steady progress in such fields as healthcare, poverty alleviation, agriculture and disaster prevention, so as to help Afghanistan realize independent and sustainable development at an early date. They supported the active integration of Afghanistan into the system of regional connectivity.

The parties reiterated their commitment to continue humanitarian support to the Afghan people, and called on the international community to intensify provision of emergency humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people, while simultaneously reaffirming opposition to the attempts of politicizing it.

The parties called for strengthening counter-terrorism cooperation at both bilateral and multilateral levels. They emphasized that Afghanistan should be supported to undertake comprehensive measures aimed at the elimination of terrorism and its eradication within a short timeframe so that Afghan soil is not used as a threat to the security of the neighboring countries and beyond. The parties underscored that terrorism constitutes a serious threat to the security of Afghanistan, the region and the wider world.

The parties underlined the significant role of regional frameworks.

The parties urged the countries mainly responsible for the current predicament in Afghanistan to earnestly fulfill commitments on the economic recovery and future development of Afghanistan.

They called unacceptable the attempts by countries to deploy their military infrastructure in Afghanistan and neighboring states, since this does not serve the interests of regional peace and stability.

Thank you for accepting our invitation to the regular, 7th meeting of the Moscow Format of Consultations on Afghanistan.

The situation in the region and the world as a whole is complicated – we are now referring to our common region – and it is not becoming simpler. We can see that your government is working towards stability in the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. It is generally agreed that there have been major positive changes in the struggle against the terrorist threat. The relevant UN bodies have noted a substantial decrease in the areas sown with narcotic plants.

We are interested in providing all-round assistance to our Afghan colleagues’ struggle against drug trafficking, terrorism and organised crime, and their efforts to strengthen normal peaceful life in the interests of the Afghan people. A number of relevant agreements and complementary documents have been signed. I hope to be able to discuss all this with you today.

✍️ In the year marking the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory over Nazism (World War II), not only in Russia but across the world many are rightly asking: to what extent have the lessons of the struggle against Nazism, fascism and militarism truly been learned?

Public opinion – both in countries friendly and unfriendly to Russia – that remembers the horrors of that time is witnessing the dangerous attempts of certain present-day leaders and political elites to distort objective reality, destroy and rewrite the history of World War II, revise its outcomes, whitewash war criminals who devised and implemented the theory of racial superiority, and glorify collaborators who aided the Nazis.

🤐 In a number of states, the information regarding the crimes of Hitlerism is being deliberately silenced, while the glorification of Nazism and rewriting of WWII history have been elevated to the level of official policy.

Particularly alarming is the fact that these destructive processes are advancing most rapidly in Germany, Italy and Japan – the very founders of the aggressive Axis bloc, which during World War II was opposed by the Anti-Hitler Coalition. <...>

Revisionist tendencies are gaining ground in Germany. The false thesis about the “equal responsibility of two totalitarian regimes” for unleashing WWII has long become a cornerstone of Germany’s remembrance culture, while the results of the post-war settlement are now the main target of official propaganda. <...>

Germany’s process of atonement for the crimes of the Nazi regime is largely limited to the theme of the Holocaust, while the memory of Soviet victims is deliberately ignored. <...>

🇷🇺🇧🇾 It is therefore not surprising that, in this atmosphere, German law-enforcement authorities saw no violation of the law in the actions of the leadership of the former Nazi concentration camp museum Dachau, which ordered staff to remove ribbons in the national colours of Russia and Belarus from wreaths laid during a commemorative ceremony marking the 80th anniversary of Victory. <...>

The revanchist core of Japan’s modern policy is clearly reflected in Tokyo’s persistent imposition of false interpretations of events of the mid-20th century that determined the fate of humanity. <...>

Since the coming to power in October 2022 of the centre-right government in Italy led by Giorgia Meloni, there has been a noticeable trend towards greater tolerance by the authorities for the increased apologetics in some parts of society for the “values” and “achievements” of the fascist regime, as well as public reproduction of symbols and rituals of the fascist Ventennio. <...> During her time in office, the Prime Minister herself has never once made a statement of firm and unequivocal condemnation of fascism. <...>

❌ Since 2022, Germany, Italy and Japan have consistently voted against the annually tabled resolution introduced by Russia and other co-sponsors at the UN General Assembly “Combating glorification of Nazism, neo-Nazism and other practices that contribute to fuelling contemporary forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance”.

❗️ This is the first time in history that members of Hitler’s wartime Axis coalition have openly voted against a document condemning the glorification of Nazism and all forms of racial discrimination.

The fact that these states – directly responsible for the deaths of tens of millions – now vote against a resolution calling for the prevention of Nazism's revival raises serious questions about the ideological processes under way in these countries and in the West at large. It is also evident that these states have chosen to ignore the obligations and pledges they assumed when joining the United Nations.
