🎙 Excerpts from Ambassador Andrei Kelin’s interview with TRT World Roundtable programme hosted by Enda Brady

💬 In the recent days we have sufficient defence forces that have stopped any movement of Ukrainian soldiers further on. Their aim was either to capture the Kursk Nuclear Power Station or to get a substantial plot of land.

None of these goals have been achieved.

Now they are not moving further. <...> They did not slow down the advancement of the Russian forces in Donbass. And they are losing now, wasting their best reserves. <...>

What the Ukrainian troops are doing in the Kursk direction is striking civilian infrastructure and people. It means that this is a terrorist act, nothing else. <...>

We have drawn our conclusions [from the Kiev regime's attack]. Ukraine would like to continue this struggle by military means and does not want to negotiate.

Our main conclusion is that negotiations at the moment and for quite a prolonged period of time is out of the view. <...>

❗️ They have prevented negotiations at the moment. So, I think it will not be done until they are present on the Russian land.

🎙 Excerpt from Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s statement and answers to media questions following talks with Yemeni Foreign Minister Shaya al-Zindani (Moscow, August 27, 2024)

Question: How would you comment Ukraine’s demands as set forth in The Guardian? They seek the green light to use the Storm Shadow missiles to target Moscow and St Petersburg as a way to force Moscow to negotiate.

💬 This is blackmail, an attempt to pretend that the West seeks to avoid any excessive escalation.

In reality, they are full of mischief. Avoiding escalation is not what the West is after. To put it into plain language, they are simply picking a fight. I think that this has become obvious to everyone.

I have recently cited John Kirby, who is the White House National Security Communications Advisor. A couple of months ago, he said that escalation would be dangerous, since it would be extremely ill-advised to let the situation slide into a world war and that Europe would be the one to suffer in the process. Recently, John Kirby said this again.

☝️ For Americans, any talk about the third world war comes down to something that would affect Europe alone, and God forbid if it ever happened.

This is quite telling, since this idea reflects the mindset of the American planners and geostrategy experts who believe that they can simply sit the whole thing out. <...>

They have a mindset of a master sitting somewhere out there overseas and believing to be totally safe and secure, thinking that not only Ukrainians, but also, as it turns out, Europeans would be willing to do the dirty work and die for them.

We have long been hearing speculation about authorising Ukraine to use not only the Storm Shadow missiles, but also US-made long-range missiles.

There was an anonymous source in Washington who said that they were working on it. This source purported that their overall view of Ukraine’s request is quite positive. <...>

❗️ Now, all we can do is confirm once again that playing with fire is a dangerous thing for the men and women in charge of nuclear weapons across the Western world, but they are playing with matches as if they never grew up.

📺 Watch Ambassador Andrei Kelin's interview with RT

Key topics:
• UK's role in the Ukrainian crisis
• Shifting in British public opinion on Ukraine
• Ukraine’s Kursk invasion
• UK's domestic problems
• Telegram CEO Pavel Durov's detention in France

Question: So we are seeing some people are shifting in some of their attitudes. How long will it be before we might see a mass of people change their attitudes towards the conflict in Ukraine and to Russia itself?

💬 Andrei Kelin: It could happen as events unfold over the course of the year, in the sense that the government in Kiev is currently driving the country towards the abyss, and the British government is helping it to do so.

This drive towards the abyss in terms of economy, in terms of population decline, is a disaster from all sides. Only when they start to realise that it was a grave mistake on all sides to support Ukraine in all its endeavours and movements, then a change of attitude [towards the Ukrainian conflict] can happen.

⚡️ Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation:

Russia’s Defence Ministry has launched a multimedia section on its website to mark the 80th anniversary of the Lvov-Sandomierz Strategic Offensive and the liberation of western part of Soviet Ukraine from Nazi invaders.

The Defence Ministry of Russia has launched a new historical project noscriptd Never Forget the Lessons of History to mark 80 years since Western Ukraine’s liberation from the horrors of fascism and released declassified documents on how the Lvov-Sandomierz Strategic Offensive was planned and carried out between July 13 and August 29, 1944.

The sixth strategic strike devastated the enemy’s strategic force — Army Group North Ukraine — and brought about the liberation of Soviet Ukraine’s western regions and southeast Poland from the Nazi invaders. The Soviet forces took control of a major bridgehead on Vistula’s western bank and used it to commence an offensive targeting Silesia, central Poland and on to the borders of Nazi Germany.

👉 This new multimedia section on the Defence Ministry’s website offers previously unpublished documents from the Ministry’s Central Archive:

▪️ directives from the General Headquarters
▪️ encrypted messages from various quarters
▪️ combat reports
▪️ maps and charts of the offensive
▪️ unique photographs and artefacts demonstrating the Red Army personnel’s courage and valour during the liberation of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic
▪️ multiple items providing evidence of the atrocities perpetrated by the Nazi invaders in western part of Soviet Ukraine
▪️ other documents that have never appeared in the public domain before.

Excerpts from the documents published by Russia's Defence Ministry:

📰 The German invaders killed about 700,000 Soviet people in Lvov and across the Lvov Region, including men, women and children. The victims also included nationals from Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia, the Netherlands, Great Britain, and the United States who were brought from German concentration camps (Leninskoye Znamya (Lenin’s Banner) newspaper of the political unit within the 2nd Guards Tank Army, December, 1944)

📰 Once a prosperous town in Soviet Ukraine, Slavuta turned into a major concentration camp after the Nazi invaders came there. The Soviet people referred to this horrific place as the Death Factory. There were only two options for those who were sent into this hell hole: death or forced labour for the Germans (Za Chest Rodiny (For the Motherland’s Honour) newspaper of the 1st Ukrainian Front, March, 1944)

📰 When the Red Army units liberated Slavuta from the Germans, they discovered a lazaret, or infirmary, for Soviet prisoners of war on the grounds of what used to serve as a military camp. There were over 500 people there who were suffering from extreme exhaustion or severe illness. They shared stories of how German doctors and the infirmary’s guards killed tens of thousands of people (Za Chest Rodiny newspaper of the 1st Ukrainian Front, July, 1944)

📄 Groups of Ukrainian and German nationalists broke through doors and windows, rushed into apartments and homes, and used their guns, knives and axes to kill people, including infants and the elderly, both men and women. They loaded the corpses into horse-drawn carriages, took them away and buried in pits. To conceal their crimes, they burned some families in sheds and then buried the burned corpses. While committing these atrocities, the perpetrators also looted and pillaged the homes of their victims (Report on the Atrocities Perpetrated by Ukrainian Nationalists in Mogilnitsy, Tarnopol Region, April, 1944)

💬 Ambassador Andrei Kelin: In the UK, when talking about Ukraine, there is only one narrative that is possible here, and it sounds like this: Russia has launched an unprovoked aggression against Ukraine and the UK will stand with Ukraine as long as it takes.

The key word is unprovoked. It is completely wrong.

It does not take into account the hostile attitude of Ukraine towards Russia, the discrimination against the Russian population, the total negation of Russian interests by the West and many other things, including the genesis of the conflict, which is the most important thing.

🎙 Russia's Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova’s answer to a question from Rossiya Segodnya regarding peace initiatives on Ukraine

Question: Are Russia’s peace proposals on Ukraine still in force now? How would Russia see a proposal to have talks on Ukraine if they are initiated by Minsk?

💬 Maria Zakharova: Russia has always wanted to put an end to the Ukraine conflict as soon as possible and favoured the start of negotiations. We suggested on many occasions finding solution to the current situation by political and diplomatic methods, including this past June, when President Vladimir Putin came forward with a peace initiative. It boiled down to:

• Withdrawal of Ukrainian armed units from new Russian regions, Donetsk People’s Republic, Lugansk People’s Republic, Zaporozhye and Kherson Regions,
• Kiev’s refusal from NATO membership,
• Cancellation of all Western sanctions against Russia,
• Ensuring the rights of Ukraine’s Russian-speaking citizens.

That said, it was about putting an end to the conflict, rather than about freezing it in order to rearm the Kiev regime. No doubt the initiative put forward by the President of Russia will remain a universal and long-term recipe for resolving the Ukraine conflict because it contains a way of eliminating its root causes.

❗️ However, the recent events have shown that the Ukraine crisis is far detached from peace talks. As you know, in August, the Zelensky regime ventured a treacherous terrorist invasion of the Kursk Region. It was a kind of response from Ukrainian Banderites to Vladimir Putin’s peace initiative. Kiev did not conceal that by such a risky step they intended to improve their positions in the hypothetical negotiations with Russia. It is clear that when such heinous atrocities are taking place, in particular, indiscriminate attacks against civilians who have nothing to do with hostilities, against civilian infrastructure, and when threats to nuclear power facilities are created, any peace talks with the terrorist regime in Kiev are out of the question, regardless of their initiator.

Meanwhile, we would like to emphasise that we are grateful to our Belarusian allies for the peace-making efforts they made many times, specifically, provided a negotiation platform, including in 2015, when working out a Minsk package of measures, and in the spring of 2022, when holding first rounds of the Russian-Ukrainian talks.

The once respected Times published a "report" by Catherine Philp from the Russian town of Sudzha, currently under occupation by militarized elements of the Kiev regime.

She arrived there in the company of marauding Ukrainian troops. In doing so she flagrantly violated the norms regulating activities of foreign journalists within the territory of the Russian Federation.

The piece she authored is a prime example of slanderous wartime propaganda. It is based on "interviews" with frightened locals who are compelled to speak to The Times while basically held at gunpoint by militants of the Ukrainian armed forces.

It is worth noting that even in these circumstances many Russians in Sudzha did not succumb to the duress and chose not to play along with the occupiers and their Western "spin doctors".

Ms Philp is well aware of the sort of people she is helping with her disinformation. While cynically distorting the motives behind the actions of the Ukrainian occupiers, she nevertheless concedes that they mark their presence in Russian territory with Nazi swastikas.

Aiding and abetting Ukrainian fascism with its pantheon of Bandera, Shukhevych and other lackeys of the Third Reich will forever be a stain on the reputation of The Times editorial board and Ms Philp personally.

☝️ Obviously, Catherine Philp will be banned from entering Russia.

Through her actions she, along with other Western pseudo-journalists willing to tag along on Ukrainian military "press tours" on Russian soil, has deprived herself of the right to ever visit our country on legal grounds.

On this day 83 years ago, the first Arctic convoy, codenamed "Dervish", arrived in Arkhangelsk from Great Britain. The cargo vessels delivered 10,000 tons of rubber, 15 Hurricane fighters, 3,800 depth charges and magnetic mines.

"Dervish" marked the beginning of regular deliveries of strategically important cargo between the USSR and the Allies along the northern route, which continued until the end of the Great Patriotic War. A total of 1,398 ships passed in the Arctic convoys in both directions. The sailors demonstrated genuine heroism, as they had to operate in extreme cold, storms and under constant threat from German submarines and aircraft. During the war, 87 transport vessels were lost, 69 of which - in 1942.

The Arctic convoys were formed at the bases of the British Royal Navy in Scotland - in the bays of Scapa Flow and Loch Ewe. In the village of Aultbea on the shore of Loch Ewe there is now a museum where a lot can be learned about the Arctic convoys and the heroism of their participants.

⚡️ Russia's Foreign Ministry statement on the terrorist attack against Belgorod by the Ukrainian Nazis

On the evening of August 30, Zelensky’s neo-Nazi fighters perpetrated yet another crime by using Vampire, a Czech-made multiple rocket launcher, to shell Belgorod and its suburbs with cluster munitions.

This barbaric strike left five civilians dead and 46 wounded, including seven minors. <...>

❗️ All those who plotted and carried out this and other crimes perpetrated by the Kiev junta will face inevitable punishment under the law.

There is no doubt that this terrorist attack was designed to sow fear among people and was carefully planned well in advance. Once again, the Kiev clique demonstrated its Nazi essence — just like eight decades ago, during the Nazi invasion, today’s followers of the Nazis and Bandera continue killing innocent people.

Just as back then, the supposedly civilised and enlightened West world, which in reality supports the Nazis, turns a blind eye to their bloody atrocities while also delivering lethal weapons to the cynical killers it nurtured. NATO-made missiles brought all this suffering, fires and destruction to the Belgorod Region. <...>

We once again urge all responsible governments and relevant international institutions to resolutely condemn this brutal act of terrorism and publicly distance themselves from the Kiev regime and its Western patrons, who commit such crimes.

☝️ Silence in response to the unbridled barbarism of the Ukrainian nationalists and their puppeteers from "civilized democracies" would be tantamount to complicity in their bloody deeds.

⚓️ On August 31, 1941, the first Arctic convoy, codenamed Dervish and escorted by the UK's Royal Navy, anchored in the port of Arkhangelsk, carrying ammunition, supplies and airplanes, much needed for the Soviet Union’s war effort against the Nazi Germany.

An experimental venture initially, Operation Dervish paved the trail for more wartime deliveries to the USSR. It became the first of 78 convoys that brought millions of tons of essential goods to our country between August 1941 and May 1945, as part of the Lend Lease programme.

The Arctic convoys were one of the toughest and most courageous World War II missions, involving more than 1,400 merchant vessels and military ships, that sailed from the UK, Iceland and North America to the Soviet Arctic ports, primarily Arkhangelsk and Murmansk.

Thousands of sailors braved harsh weather conditions in the Arctic waters and the constant threat of attacks to deliver strategic cargoes. Over 3,000 Soviet, American, British and other allied seamen perished while conducting these operations.

☝️ The Arctic convoys represent an enduring symbol of shared history, close cooperation and peoples' sacrifice in the joint fight to defeat Nazism.

The memory of these and other heroic examples of mutual support continues to live in our hearts. The bravery of these men and women who unsparingly fought for the Victory shall never be forgotten.
