🇷🇺🇺🇳 Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the UN:
🎙 Explanation of vote by Permanent Representative Vassily Nebenzia during UNSC voting on the situation in Gaza (February 20, 2024)
Before the vote on the Algerian draft:
💬 On October 16, 2023, when Russia proposed the very first draft resolution calling for a ceasefire, the number of Palestinian casualties was about 1,000. At that time, the Western delegations in the Council chose to abstain en masse in order not to incur the wrath of Washington.
❗️More than 28,000 deaths that occurred since then were the price of that first shameful inaction, the collective irresponsibility of Western delegations to the Security Council, whose NATO solidarity outweighs any national declarations of commitment to international humanitarian law and the protection of civilians and humanitarian personnel.
<…>
On behalf of the Arab Group, the delegation of Algeria proposed a solid, well-balanced draft resolution centered around the long-awaited ceasefire. <…> However, the US delegation issued an ultimatum from the outset, demanding that work on the document be halted.
👉 I call on the members of the Council to demonstrate solidarity in confronting the arbitrariness of Washington, who is ready to make any sacrifice in any region in pursuit of its geopolitical ambitions.
Remarks following the vote:
💬 Today we have seen yet another black page in the history of the UN Security Council. It was written again by the US delegation, whose goal remains unchanged – to cover for its closest Middle Eastern ally and drag out time for as long as possible so that it can complete its inhumane plans for Gaza, namely to expel the Palestinians from the Strip and completely "clean up" the enclave, literally turning it into an uninhabited land.
<…>
☝️ However bitter the "aftertaste" of today's vote may be, we are in no mood to give up. The UNSC's demand to the parties for an immediate ceasefire remains an imperative. Without it, any "product" of the Council will be meaningless.

💬 Russian MFA Spokeswoman Maria #Zakharova:
I read the South Korean Foreign Ministry’s comment regarding “Russian cars in the DPRK.”
If Seoul has questions about “compliance with UN sanctions” on the DPRK, then it should contact the UN Security Council Sanctions Committee instead of running to the microphones. By the way, the whole committee should also discuss the over 12,000 illegal sanctions against Russia and the West’s sanctions wars that are killing international law.
It would also be interesting to know what pressure Washington is putting on Seoul to disrupt lawfully existing trade relations with other countries.
I think these advocates of purity in international law should be asked what damage the illegal sanctions are causing to people around the world when they cannot access food, medicine, and vaccines because of the Western sanctions wars.

#G20
It became clear that relying on just one centre of economic power is not a viable approach and most recently the G20 has engaged in a dialogue to reform and to restore the functionality of global economic institutions.
The positive dynamics of this forum are largely attributable to the fact that emerging markets are acting independently and insisting on fair consideration of their interests.
☝️ It is important for the G20 countries to commit to not weaponise the economy and to not engage in unfair competition.
#BRICS
🌐 Strengthening the potential and role of BRICS in international affairs is our priority.
BRICS members represent different economic and political systems, religions, and macro-regions and are able to work together as equal partners. Its international standing is steadily growing.
#Ukraine
❗️The root causes of the Ukraine crisis need to be eliminated if we want to achieve a sustainable and fair settlement. The West must stop supplying weapons to Ukraine, and Kiev must stop hostilities.
Ukraine should reinstate its neutral, non-aligned, and non-nuclear status and ensure the rights and freedoms of its citizens. It is critical that the basis be the new territorial realities and the situation on the ground.
#RussiaUS
👉 The ruling elite of the US views Russia as an adversary and a threat regardless of its party affiliation. The former president did nothing to improve Russia-US relations during his four-year stint in the White House.
We have no illusions and do not expect the anti-Russian course of the US to change in the foreseeable future. We are prepared to work with any leader who wins the American people’s trust. What matters to us is not specific political figures, but their policies towards Russia. President Putin made that clear recently in his televised interview.

💬 Three days ago, we celebrated the 167th Anniversary of our bilateral relations. This is an impressive milestone. I congratulate all of us on this significant occasion.
Throughout this time, our relations have evolved into a stable strategic partnership and a true friendship. We support each other on the international stage in our efforts to promote justice and democracy in global affairs.
We cooperate within the Group of Friends in Defence of the UN Charter, established at the initiative of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. Our work has had a galvanising effect on all the countries seeking to assert their identity and avoid being adversely affected by Western policies that still rely on neo-colonial practices.

📅 Today outstanding Russian diplomat Vitaly Churkin would have turned 72.
He devoted his life to defending our country’s interests on the global stage, navigating a storied career path from the translation department of the USSR Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. Over the years, he headed our country’s diplomatic missions in Chile, Belgium and Canada. He successfully conducted challenging negotiations within the Arctic Council on cooperation in the Arctic.
🎙In 1991-92, Vitaly Churkin served as Head of the Information Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR, then the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia. He pioneered the practice of conducting regular open briefings for foreign journalists, marking a historic milestone in Russian diplomatic communication.
As a special Presidential representative in the Balkans, Churkin made a significant contribution to the settlement of conflicts in the former Yugoslavia. Notably, he served as a mediator in negotiations that stopped the NATO airstrikes and proposed the deployment of Russian military units to Sarajevo, which later formed a UN battalion.
🇺🇳The high point of Churkin’s diplomatic career was his tenure as Russia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, a post he held for 11 years. Renowned for his extensive knowledge and adept humour, Churkin fostered and sustained good relations with his colleagues from other countries.
✍️ Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in his foreword to Vitaly Churkin’s memoirs, Lost in Translation: Vitaly Churkin was respected even by those foreign partners who did not always share Russia’s approaches to the key problems of our time. For example, one US Ambassador to the United Nations referred to him as “formidable as a foe, caring as a friend and fierce as a defender of Russia, the country he adored and strived to make proud.”

🎙 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s remarks and answers to media questions following talks with Foreign Minister of the Republic of Cuba Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla (Havana, February 19, 2024)
Key talking points:
🇷🇺🇨🇺 Cuba is our traditional partner and an important ally in Latin America and the Caribbean. We are happy with the constructive and intensive political dialogue between Russia and Cuba at all levels.
• Today, we reaffirmed our mutual interest in continuing to build up our trade, economic and investment cooperation. Our recent decisions have contributed to the development of a full-scale legal framework for interaction in the material sphere.
• We have noted our Cuban friends’ consistent and growing interest in cooperation with #BRICS. Russia, which holds the group’s rotating chairmanship this year, will encourage this intention.
• We expressed a high opinion of our bilateral interaction or more precisely the coordination of our actions on the international stage. We share a common view on respect for the UN Charter in its entirety and in the interconnection of its principles. We also agree on the importance of creating a fairer and more democratic world order based on the principle of the sovereign equality of states.
• We reaffirmed our resolve to continue to coordinate our actions in the Group of Friends in Defence of the UN Charter, above all when it comes to fighting dictate, neocolonial practices and unilateral sanctions.
• We also confirmed our strong condemnation of the illegal US trade, economic and financial blockade of Cuba.
❗️ We are firmly committed to the immediate termination of this shameful practice and demand that Cuba be removed from the American list of states that sponsor terrorism.

🎙 Comment for the media by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov following the talks with Miguel Díaz-Canel, President of Cuba and First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (Havana, February 19, 2024)
💬 Sergey Lavrov: We covered the full spectrum of our relations and reviewed the results of extensive conversations with my colleague, Foreign Minister of Cuba Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla.
One important matter on the bilateral agenda is improving the legal and regulatory framework and practical projects concerning trade, the economy and investment links. <...>
✈️ There are excellent prospects in tourism. President Miguel Díaz-Canel noted a steady rise in Russian tourists visiting your beautiful resorts.<...>
🎓 Russia and Cuba maintain intensive humanitarian cooperation, especially in education. Cuban students enjoy studying in Russia. We offer a very steady and attractive reimbursement programme for our Cuban friends studying in Russian universities.
Our traditional cultural exchanges are quite intensive. The Russian band Turetsky Choir and its women's ensemble, Soprano, will be touring Cuba at the beginning of summer.
<...>
🇺🇳 Russia and Cuba maintain intensive cooperation and coordinate their actions on all the key issues on the international agenda. Russia, our Cuban friends and other like-minded partners participate in the Group of Friends in Defence of the UN Charter.
❌ It is absolutely outrageous that the US continues with its trade, economic and financial blockade of Cuba, an act condemned by literally all other members of the international community. We will continue to support each other in the UN, protecting the ideals enshrined in the UN Charter but remain ignored and undermined by Americans and their satellites.
Cuba is interested in closer relations with #BRICS. As the country chairing BRICS this year, Russia will actively facilitate this process. We will also contribute to developing Cuba-EAEU relations.

🎙 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s remarks at a solemn ceremony of unveiling a monument to Alexander Pushkin (Caracas, February 20, 2024)
💬 While the West is mindlessly rewriting history, destroying monuments and cancelling Russian culture, we, together with our Venezuelan friends, continue to respect historical memory & convey it to new generations.
Alexander Pushkin was not only a great poet who created the modern Russian language but also a diplomat, a thinker and a patriot. He wrote:
“On my honour I swear to you that I would not wish another homeland or history than that of our ancestors.”
I have no doubt that Venezuelan patriots have the same feelings for their beautiful country. Alexander Pushkin was a contemporary of Simon Bolivar, an outstanding Venezuelan statesman, military leader and politician. Both had the same ideals – freedom, equality and fraternity – and both loyally served their country.
The name of Simon Bolivar has become the symbol of struggle for freedom and independence both within and beyond Latin America. Alexander Pushkin immortalised the glorious deeds of the national hero of Venezuela by writing about the “broad-brimmed Bolivar,” a hat that became known in Russian fashion as a symbol of progressive ideals. Today, Moscow has a monument to Simon Bolivar, which was unveiled last year in the presence of Caracas Mayor Carmen Melendez.
☝️ The values which Pushkin and Bolivar upheld have not lost their significance today. Our countries are at the forefront of the struggle for the right of all nations to choose freedom, justice and respect for their history and traditions.

🔸 Venezuela is one of the most reliable and close friends of Russia in Latin America and the world as a whole. We maintain close relations of strategic partnership. They are intrinsically valuable and do not depend on the political environment.
🔸 We agreed to accelerate and increase our levels of cooperation in all these spheres. We share the opinion that this will strengthen the stability of our national economies and the technological sovereignty of Russia and Venezuela.
🔸 In September 2023, a centre for open education, offering a number of courses in the Russian language, was established in Caracas. With the permission of our Venezuelan colleagues, we plan to open a similar centre on Margarita Island. We also intend to reopen the Russian Centre for Science and Culture in Caracas.

🎙 Russia's President Vladimir Putin's speech at the opening ceremony for Games of the Future international tournament in Kazan.
💬 Vladimir Putin: I am glad to welcome to Russia the pioneers of phygital sports which is an innovative format that gave rise to the name to the competition. These are indeed the Games of the Future.
The blending of tradition and the modern age, the harmonising of physical fitness and high intellect, the integration of sports and technology, education and science – a person needs all that for well-rounded development and success in our era of rapid change, and the multifaceted, multipolar, free and competitive world that is taking shape before our eyes.
It makes perfect sense that the idea to merge conventional and e-sports was born in Russia.
☝️ Our country remains one of the leading sports powerhouses on the planet, the home of great athletes, victories and records. We have always championed sport and its lofty humanistic values.
#GamesOfTheFuture are our gift to the international sports family.
🎓 Russia is also a land of outstanding scientists, designers and engineers. Their achievements opened up new horizons of knowledge for humankind, and today our research teams and companies are scaling new heights in digital technologies and the use of artificial intelligence in areas that are at the leading edge of progress.
<...>
✅ The Games of the Future is free from politics, as well as all discrimination and double standards. I am positive that the true spirit of sports will be on display at the Games venues.
<...>
The international phygital tournament is a unique event in the modern history of international sports – which begins right here and now in Russia.

🎙️ Embassy Comment on the UK Restrictive Measures against Russia, 21 February, 2024
▪︎Appealing to the principle of sovereignty at every turn and accusing our country of violating it by launching the Special military operation in Ukraine, the British authorities are themselves shamelessly interfering in our country’s internal matters.
▪︎Although no outcomes of the investigation or solid facts have been available as yet, London single-handedly identified those guilty and arbitrarily “sentenced” them to sanctions without a trial.
▪︎The choreography for this move by the UK looks distinctly cynical. The timing was chosen with Britain’s domestic policy in mind – just as Rishi Sunak was about to speak in the House of Commons and David Cameron was disembarking in Rio de Janeiro for the G20 Foreign Ministers meeting.
▪︎They are the ones supplying weapons and missiles from British stockpiles, that are used every day by Ukrainian militants to shell towns of Donbass and the Crimea.
▪︎We no longer have illusions about the true motives behind London’s false propaganda in support of “Russian democracy.” It is aimed exclusively at sowing discord among our compatriots and thereby weakening our country.
☝️No wonder the British establishment combines its “crocodile tears” over A.Navalny’s death so easily with calls to increase military aid to Ukrainian neo-Nazis.
We regard London's decision as futile and legally void.
❗Like all previous anti-Russian moves, it will not go unanswered.

The decision of the UK Government to impose illegitimate unilateral restrictions against a number of Russian citizens on 21 February under a far-fetched pretext is striking in its dishonesty.

🗓 February 22 marks the 10th anniversary of the unconstitutional coup d'etat in Ukraine — an event, which led to an armed civil conflict, essentially a war waged by the Kiev regime against its own people, and a deepest crisis of international and European security since World War II.
10 years have passed since the tragic and horrible events of February 2014. The residing "authorities" in Kiev, aka the Kiev regime, and their Western sponsors are, as per their usual m.o., are attempting to distort the truth, conceal true facts, and turn the timeline of those events, their substance upside down.
❗️ But the truth is stubborn; it tends to get revealed sooner or later.
***
On the origins of Ukrainian nationalism, the crimes of the OUN-UPA, and the support of the West
***
The most horrific events unfolded on 20 February: the still unidentified snipers began shooting on the Institutskaya Street in the centre of Kiev at both law enforcement and protesters. Euromaidan supporters and Western politicians, seized "the opportunity", blamed the legitimate authorities of Ukraine. No evidence of Yanukovich's involvement was provided, and there is none to this day. Unlike, the Maidan activists & the opposition who benefited the most and was seen smuggling weapons into the area <...>
On 21 February, in an attempt to avoid further bloodshed, Yanukovych signed an Agreement on the Settlement of the Political Crisis in Ukraine with the opposition (from the opposition's side — Vitali Klitschko (UDAR party), Arseniy Yatsenyuk ("Fatherland"), and Oleg Tyagnybok ("Freedom")), which was supported and guaranteed by the foreign ministers of Germany, France, and Poland. This document envisaged the creation of a government of national trust, constitutional reform, and the organization of early presidential elections. None of the Agreement's provisions were implemented.
The next day, on February 22, the Supreme Council passed a resolution on Viktor Yanukovych's "self-removal" from performing the duties of the President of Ukraine, thereby usurping power (although he remained a legitimate president, remained in Ukraine and had made no statements regarding resignation). It was then announced that the "government of the victors (winner)" would be formed. The West turned a blind eye to all violations and hurried to declare a "change of power" in Ukraine, openly encouraging the putschists to pursue their anti-Russian policy. What ensued was basically a hunt for the remaining law enforcement officers and officials loyal to their oath and the country. <...> The very next day, the very first decision of the new "government" through the Verkhovnaya Rada was to revoke the law on the status of the Russian language, which according to data was back then the mother tongue of the majority (!) of the Ukrainian citizens.
<...>
The "mediation" meddling of the West led to a sharp polarisation of Ukrainian society, which created the preconditions for an armed civil conflict. The first legislative steps of the "Maidan victors" — the abovementioned cancellation of the language law — were received with alarm in South-Eastern Ukraine, where spontaneous formation of popular militia forces began. Kiev immediately accused all the inhabitants of the region of "state treason" and "terrorism", threw the army and neo-Nazi punitive battalions to violently suppress the protests.
<...>
‼️ "Euromaidan" created a deep rift in Ukrainian society, lead to persecution, fight against dissent, spread of nationalism and neo-Nazism, legal lawlessness and nihilism, fighting the Russian language and own history, complete degradation of the socio-economic situation in the country.
The terror and horror brought by the Ukrainian neo-Nazis and nationalists in 2014 must be brought to an end. Denazification and demilitarisation will be achieved.

10 years since the unconstitutional coup d'etat in Ukraine

▪️ On this very day, 10 years ago, Kiev became ground zero for an unconstitutional coup, that triggered all the events around Ukraine and its now former regions ever since. It marked the culmination of the Euromaidan demonstrations, a series of public protests held between November 2013 and February 2014, organised with the involvement and support of Western countries.
Here are facts that the Western mainstream media does not want to you to remember or know at all 👇
🔻 On February 21, 2014, a day before the coup, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and the opposition, mediated by Germany, Poland, and France, reached an agreement intended to stop the bloodshed and pave the way for a political resolution to the crisis. However, as soon as Yanukovych ordered the withdrawal of law enforcement troops from the centre of Kiev, militants began storming government buildings.
🔻 The Euromaidan protesters openly expressed neo-Nazi views. Images of Third Reich intelligence agent Stepan Bandera adorned captured buildings and were raised at rallies.
🔻 The Maidan Square protests received overt support and funding from Western countries. The US Embassy alone reportedly provided material support to protester groups amounting to $1 million per day.
🔻 Euromaidan activists resorted to the use of force and terrorist tactics, as evidenced by numerous cases of beatings and torture inflicted upon politicians and public figures who spoke out against the coup.
🔻Following the Euromaidan victory, the Kiev regime’s campaign of terror against dissidents became a hallmark. For over a decade, the people of Donbass endured terrorist attacks and indiscriminate strikes from the Ukrainian Armed Forces and neo-Nazi groups.
❗️Following the coup in Ukraine, its participants chose confrontation and civil war instead of pursuing peaceful development for the country.
