📆 May 8 marks 55 years since the memorial architectural ensemble, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, was unveiled in the Alexander Garden by the walls of the Moscow Kremlin.
⭐️ The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is a symbolic monument that pays tribute to soldiers who died in the Great Patriotic War. The idea to erect the memorial was conceived in 1966 on the 25th anniversary of the Nazis’ defeat in the Battle of Moscow. Ashes of Soviet soldiers killed in action outside Zelenograd were buried in the Alexander Garden on December 3 of the same year.
📃 Presidential Executive Order of November 17, 2009 granted the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier the status of a National Memorial of Military Glory in order to preserve its historical cultural legacy for the peoples of the Russian Federation. It was included in the state register of especially valuable cultural heritage sites of the peoples of the Russian Federation.

On the occasion of the 77th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, Russian President Vladimir Putin sent messages of greetings to the leaders and people of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Abkhazia, South Ossetia, the Donetsk People's Republic, the Lugansk People's Republic, as well as the peoples of Georgia and Ukraine.
💬 Vladimir Putin: Our common duty is to prevent the revival of Nazism, which brought so much suffering to the people of different countries. It is necessary to preserve and pass on to posterity the truth about the events of the war years, common spiritual values, traditions of fraternal friendship.
In his messages to the Heads of the Donetsk and Lugansk people's republics, Vladimir Putin pointed out that today our military personnel, like their ancestors, are fighting shoulder to shoulder for the liberation of their native land from Nazi filth and expressed confidence that, as in 1945, Victory would be ours.

⭐️ 8 мая, в преддверии Дня Победы, сотрудники Посольства России в Австрии организовали велопробег в память о подвиге тысяч красноармейцев, ценой своих жизней освободивших Вену и Австрию от фашистских захватчиков.
🕯 Участники мероприятия возложили цветы и зажгли поминальные свечи на 7 советских воинских захоронениях, расположенных как в столице Австрийской Республики, так и в прилегающей к ней федеральной земле Нижняя Австрия.

Please accept my heartfelt greetings on our common glorious holiday, Victory Day.
Exactly 77 years ago, the courage and heroism of soldiers and members of partisan units who fought on the frontlines, as well as the people’s steadfast and selfless work on the home front crushed Nazism.
Unfortunately, Nazism is today again raising its head, trying to impose its barbaric and inhuman ways. It is our sacred duty to prevent revenge by the ideological heirs of those who were defeated in the Great Patriotic War.
It is my sincere wish that Ukrainian veterans of the Great Patriotic War will remain stoic, stay in good health and live a long life, and to all residents of Ukraine, I wish a peaceful and just future.

🗓 9 мая 1945 года в пригороде Берлина Карлсхорсте был подписан Акт о военной капитуляции германских вооружённых сил. Он вступил в силу 9 мая в 01:01 по московскому времени (8 мая в 23:01 по среднеевропейскому).
📃 Подпись от имени СССР поставил заместитель Верховного главнокомандующего маршал Советского Союза Г. К. Жуков. За германское Верховное командование акт подписали начальник штаба вермахта генерал-фельдмаршал В. Кейтель, главнокомандующий ВМС адмирал флота Г.Г.фон Фридебург, генерал-полковник авиации Г. Ю. Штумпф.
📃 Акт был составлен в девяти экземплярах (по три экземпляра на русском, английском и немецком языках). Полный экземпляр (т.е. на трёх языках) Акта, а также подлинный документ с подписью Деница, удостоверяющий полномочия Кейтеля, Фридебурга и Штумпфа, хранится в фонде международных договорных актов Архива внешней политики Российской Федерации.
После подписания акта германское правительство было распущено, а поверженные немецкие войска полностью сложили оружие.
