FW: Introducing: The Wire
Hello everyone, welcome to The Wire, a short-form intelligence reporting system.
This system allows us to generate real-time intelligence reports from the field completely off-grid, and send these reports to multiple easy-to-read platforms where readers can be kept up to date on world events in real time. This will be a standard service the S2 Underground provides moving forward.
The architecture of this system is pretty simple. We generate reports on a laptop or tablet in the field, then send these reports via a Winlink Vara P2P connection to a basestation. That basestation (which has internet access), uses a simple Python noscript to take the Winlink messages (the intel reports), and email them to a Telegram bot via a standard email client. From there, the Telegram bot posts the intel reports in a dedicated Telegram channel that can be followed by anyone in the world. For now, Telegram is the platform that provides a good place to start, but this system will certainly be implemented on other platforms very soon.
Obviously, the weak link is the internet connection. It would be great to have a completely offline system at some point. As it stands, this system is a great stepping stone to one day reaching that goal. And, this system allows people without expensive radios (or technical know-how) to receive our intelligence reports via a standard internet connection. For now, there is much value in a system that can be used to send information from a completely off-grid location, back to civilizationwhere that information can be shared via a variety of platforms (not just Telegram).
If one day, for some reason, the internet is no longer a viable option for sharing information, the infrastructure for continuing to share information will be easy. Instead of connecting to a gateway, we can flip a switch and immediately be operating radio-to-radio, sending information around the globe.
Though we may be a long way from implementing these ideas practically in the real world, the creation ofthese Wire reports is a giant leap in the right direction.

Now that the narrative is publicly shifting to include the possibility of peace, Russia will most certainly take the opportunity to make displays and conduct power-projection operations throughout the region, and make as many gains as possible to both force a peace in the first place, and increase their bargaining position at the peace table. After all, the rumors of peace do not often come from the victor of a conflict. Though many analysts may interpret Russia's actions as the moves of a desperate nation backed into a corner, we have to allow for the possibility that the opposite is true: That Russia is solidifying what she has already taken in preparation for a peace deal later this year.
