Ultimately, he's helping support the establishment's climate change narrative as he's supporting the idea that we're having climate disasters. He's doing that in a way that's designed to appeal to "truthers" who have rejected the mainstream climate change narrative. Having truthers claim there are climate disasters helps strengthen the overall impression that climate disasters are occurring, rather than just the usual climate cycles.

His role may also be to discredit valid geoengineering information.
