Sơn Đoòng cave, Vietnam
Hang Son Doong is the world's largest cave, located in Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park in Vietnam. It is a natural wonder filled with breathtaking views and unique geological formations. The cave was first discovered in 1991 by a local farmer, but it was not fully explored and documented until a British expedition in 2009.
The cave has a total length of 9 kilometres / 5.5 miles and has the largest cross-section of any cave anywhere on the planet. At its largest, the cave is more than 200 meters / 650 feet tall, and 150 meters / 500 feet wide. It comprises around 150 individual caves, a dense subterranean jungle and several underground rivers, hence the name “Mountain River Cave”.
