The city of Petra was the capital of the Nabataeans, and the Nabataeans themselves called this city Raqemo.
This city has had inhabitants since 700 BC, but the Nabataeans settled in it around the fourth century BC and then made it the center of their kingdom.
This city is located in a valley between the hills and is famous for its rock-cut tombs, and the peak of this city's prosperity occurred due to the expansion of trade on Oud Road.
Petra is located 262 kilometers south of Amman city and next to Jabal al-Mazhab.
