Wait until everyone finds out properly about LURA. This act allows councils to buy land for development at a lower cost by removing "hope value" costs

The Levelling-Up and Regeneration Act 2023 (LURA) gives councils the power to remove or limit "hope value" from compensation payments when purchasing land from an owner for certain purposes including 'affordable housing'
 
Councils can apply to the Secretary of State to remove or limit hope value
 
Hope value is the potential future worth of a piece of land, rather than its current market value and reflects the prospect of potential development/alternative use

Under LURA councils can now compulsorily purchase someone's land, ditch the hope (development) value in the price paid for it, but then develop it for housing! There's only one loser. And it's the land owner. They lose their land and don't even get the development price for it!

You know this is going to be used on Brownfield sites and therefore this could adversely affect farmers that have turned part of their land over to solar or wind factories as the land is forever then useless for agriculture once it's been contaminated by these useless things

I would love to know what developers lobbied for LURA and what large building development companies have council contracts for builds under this land grab
