This year's theme is 'Proud in culture, strong in spirit'.
Today and every day we celebrate the strength and culture of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, to give them confidence and make them feel special, seen and included.
The date August 4th was historically used to communally celebrate the birthdays of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children who did not know their birthdays as they were taken from their families – the Stolen Generations.

“Today we are walking for the children who didn’t have the chance to walk with us today,” Penelakut chief Joan Brown said to attendees. “I’d like to thank you all for being here walking with the survivors — walking together as one. We’re all holding each other up at this time. This is a very emotional time for a lot of the survivors and the families of children who were lost. Today we honour them. They were not forgotten.”
