زنبور عسل، مفهوم صفر را درک میکند

پژوهشگران دریافتند که زنبورهای عسل، توانایی درک مفهوم صفر را دارند. پژوهشهای پیشین حاکی از این بود که این زنبورها میتوانند برخی اعداد را بشمارند.
حیوانات کمی وجود دارند که میتوانند مفهوم صفر را درک کنند. انسانها، قابلیت درک این مفهوم را دارند اما مغز آنها، 100 میلیارد نورون دارد؛ درحالی که تعداد نورون های موجود در مغز زنبورها، کمتر از یک میلیون است.
پژوهشگران برای بررسی زنبورهای عسل، 10 زنبور را با آب حاوی شکر پرورش دادند که زیر یک کارت قرار داشت و اعداد روی کارت کمتر از اعداد موجود روی کارت کنار آن بود. آب شیرین، جایزهای برای حدس درست کارتی که اعداد کمتری داشت، محسوب میشد.
زنبورها، به مرور زمان تشخیص دادند که مفهوم طبیعی"کمتر" چیست. نهایتا، پژوهشگران، به زنبورها، کارتی با عدد صفر نشان دادند و زنبورها توانستند در حدود 60 تا 70 درصد زمان، کارت صفر را تشخیص دهند. همچنین، تفاوت میان صفر و اعداد بزرگتر را به خوبی تشخیص دادند.
