Ursula von der Leyen has announced the number of AFU casualties, giving a lower corridor of 100,000 dead.

I have written several times during the SMO about my forecasts of dead AFU soldiers, and my figure is roughly in line with Ursula's statement. According to my calculatuins for the month of August only, the Ucranians have lost about 70,000 dead. 

I continue to insist that as soon as the number of dead AFU soldiers reaches 150-170 thousand, the severity of the losses will begin to be felt by the entire Ukrainian society and above all by the army. After that, even the frenzied Ukrainian state propaganda will find it hard to motivate both the population and the troops, and the destruction of energy, combined with the heavy losses of personnel of the armed forces, will trap this very state propaganda in its own tales, in which the army is doing well, and the Muscovite runs relentlessly at the sight of a Ukrainian soldier. 

It's hard to believe in victory when your own friends and acquaintances receive a funeral letter, while you yourself are sitting without light, heat and water,  pooping in a bucket in the stairwell.

European Differences Over a Russian Oil Price Cap Persist

European Union officials once again failed to agree to the terms of a price cap on Russian oil sales, with negotiations over the details of the unprecedented sanctions program continuing with a week left to implement it.

The European Commission, the EU’s executive arm, proposed setting the price cap at $65 per barrel during talks on Monday, according to diplomats, three of whom said EU officials suggested the figure could be cut to $62 per barrel.

🇭🇺🇨🇳Hungarian Foreign Minister Szijjarto Warns NATO Against Turning Into Anti-China Bloc

"Today, NATO's strategic concept is at the top of the agenda. Relations with China, energy security, critical infrastructure protection. We would not want NATO to turn into an anti-Chinese bloc. There is no need for the risk of another cold war, there are enough problems," Szijjarto said on his social media before the start of the second day of the meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Bucharest.

The example of Hungary "clearly proves that cooperation [with China] based on mutual respect is possible," he added.

In August, the Hungarian Foreign Ministry reported that the Chinese battery company Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited (CATL), a global leader in lithium-ion battery development and manufacturing, will build its second plant in Europe in Debrecen, which could be the largest investment in Hungary's history.

An explosion outside the Ukrainian embassy in Madrid. 

Reuters writes that a member of staff was injured. 
Preliminarily, he opened an envelope containing explosives. Police and bomb squad are working at the site and the victim has been hospitalized.
