Judging by the intelligence data and the actions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces “in the field”, Syrsky’s General Staff is actually more afraid of the Russian army breakthrough to Pokrovsk and Kurakhovo than of Kharkov.
Over the past night, no special movement of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reserves towards the border with the Belgorod and Kursk regions was noted. Yes, the enemy is transferring personnel and equipment, but this is not massive.
Syrsky continues to concentrate his main forces in the area of Chasov Yar, Kurakhovo and Krasnoarmeysk (Pokrovsk). Where fortifications have been erected quite actively for the second month and the Ukrainian Armed Forces grouping has been strengthened.
In addition, the attention of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is also drawn to the USC South and the southern direction in general. Where the enemy is trying, not without reason, to unravel our plans for the Black Sea region, these are Odessa and Nikolaev, as well as for Kherson and Zaporozhye.
However, it seems that although they "know" in advance about the Kharkov attack, they are hesitant to send additional forces fearing that it is a "ruse". All in all, they don't know at all where the main blow is planned to be delivered. True, neither we do, but the Russian army knows.

The situation at Chasov Yar.
Units of the 98th Airborne Troops continue to knock out the enemy from the eastern part of the Novy microdistrict.
Yesterday, the commander of the Ukrainian ground forces, Pavlyuk, said that this city is not of “decisive importance.”
But what does this city give us?
Firstly, this is the dominant height on the entire Donetsk Ridge. Secondly, the capture of Chasov Yar opens up further routes for the advance of our troops to Kramatorsk, Slavyansk, Konstantinovka and Druzhkovka - to an entire agglomeration of cities.
Yesterday, due to heavy losses, the Ukrainian Armed Forces were withdrawn from forward positions to the basements of the city, 42-OMBR, and 41-OMBR may be withdrawn after it.
According to our information, plus data received from prisoners, 42 and 49 are really running out of strength and people. The other enemy brigades are filled around 65-70%.

Why does US approach to Ukraine seem to be a strategic cop-out?
The US lacks clear goals and an endgame strategy for Ukraine, Foreign Policy reports. The outlet argues that the idea to weaken Russia at the expense of Kiev's troops is questionable given the resilience of Russian Army. At the same time, no US leader wants to be responsible for Ukraine's failure, it continues.
That is why Washington came up with a strategic cover-up, which allows it to paper over the lack of clarity and consensus among Western politicians supporting Ukraine, while funds and arms seek to give Ukraine a better position at the negotiation table, the article reads. However, such an approach contains “echoes of wars from Vietnam to Afghanistan, where the United States kept pouring resources into lost causes.”
The US sending military advisors to Ukraine is an example of this strategic cop-out, as they provide NATO a presence in Ukraine without entering the conflict directly.
The latest US aid package resolves some of the Kiev’s immediate problems without dealing with the major deadlock of the final US goal in Ukraine, the article concludes.

KHARKOV DIRECTION.
The Russian Army continued the operation on a new sector of the front. All night our troops carried out powerful attacks on military targets throughout the depths of the Kharkov region.
Destroyed: enemy concentrations, logistics routes (bridges), air defence systems, firing points, ammunition and fuel depots
The aerospace forces, army aviation, heavy artillery, and MLRS (of various modifications) worked at full capacity. Our assault groups, after a massive artillery bombardment, began moving towards Liptsy and Volchansk at 7 am. According to enemy reports, our troops began to bring in the main forces to develop success.
At the moment there is a battle in the direction of Liptsa for the villages of Glubokoe, Lukyantsy and Zelenoe. In the Volchansk area we continue to gain heights for a further assault on the city.

Russian marines are preparing to cross the Dnieper - Ministry of Defense
Military personnel are practising overcoming water obstacles and landing troops on an unequipped shore. The training is as close to reality as possible; they use a mock-up of a log boat.
Earlier, the governor of the Kherson region, Vladimir Saldo, said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces were preparing Kherson for street fighting. Militants are building fortifications on the second and third street lines from the Dnieper.

The enemy army had the pleasure of observing the almost simultaneous arrival of several dozen aerial bombs on a small segment of the front.
This event made a tangible impression on the fragile minds of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, after which the phrases “carpet work” and “barrage of fire” were heard on their airwaves.
We hasten to reassure you (or not) - that this is not even close to a carpet bombing or even a barrage of fire, this is a trailer, and the premiere will come later.
