House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said that Democrats will move forward with creating a select committee to investigate the Jan. 6 Capitol incident, which comes after their efforts to form an independent commission were stymied earlier this year.

The speaker said she isn’t worried that the select committee will be derided by Republicans as political in nature.

🗣I don’t worry about that at all,” Pelosi said. “I have no intention of walking away from our responsibility.”

How long will the speaker exploit the Jan. 6 riot for political gain?

President Biden said that the U.S. has not been so divided since the days of the Civil War and suggested that @real_DonaldJTrump was to blame.

🗣 "The third reason I was running [for president] was to unify the country. Well, folks, it’s never been as divided as it is today, never been as divided as it is today since the Civil War,"

By unifying the country does he mean 'unify' with Latin America?
Gov. Ron DeSantis received yet another wave of negative media coverage this week after he signed the civic education bills.

DeSantis is one of several conservative leaders who have begun efforts to oppose the use of critical race theory in classrooms. Supporters of this initiative argue that it is an important method of teaching about racism.

🧐 Despite the negative media attention, his popularity is growing. Perhaps the media will eventually see that the governor has a point?
A top official at the US Department of Homeland Security told members of Congress that the conspiracy theory that Donald Trump will be reinstated as president in August has raised certain concerns.

One of the committee members, Democrat Rep. Elissa Slotkin explicitly mentioned the conspiracy theory that Trump will be put back in office in August, and probably as a result of a military coup, a theory that US mainstream media claimed Trump has reportedly encouraged within his inner circle.

Not a day goes by without a conspiracy theory

🧐 Joe Biden is going to continue leading the United States despite rumors about a possible takeover by his predecessor Donald Trump, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said during a press briefing:

🗣 "The President is prepared to continue to govern and lead the United States of America and of course, should there be an elevation and escalation, that is something we would certainly monitor and track as well."

😅 Well, Jen, the administration seems to believe in rumors. Does this mean you are afraid the rumors might turn into reality?

🚧 Kamala Harris met with migrant children during her visit to the US southern border and made an unannounced stop at a port of entry to inspect operations. Harris also made an unannounced visit to the Paso del Norte port of entry in El Paso, Texas, her office said.

😔 Kamala probably didn't have enough time to visit the Rio Grande Valley and Del Rio sectors of the border, where the vast majority of the migrants are entering the US illegally to ask for asylum.

Let's hope she will do that in next 95 days (or how much time was it before she visited the border?)

According to the lawsuit, the Biden administration is violating the Immigration and Nationality Act when they release border crossers into the U.S. interior without first determining if they are infected with the coronavirus.

But hey, he wears a mask!
🛑 House Democrats blocked consideration of a bill that would have codified the Hyde Amendment into federal law, banning taxpayer funding of abortion.
