🔍 The athlete's net worth is estimated to be at least $1 billion, based on his life savings, advertising contracts, and an array of ventures, including a golf design business (TGR Design), a live events production company (TGR Live) and a restaurant (The Woods), according to Forbes.

🧐 Michael Jordan, a former American professional basketball player, was the first to join the billionaire athletes club in 2016. He was followed by another American basketball star, LeBron James, in early June.

💭US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin emphasised Washington’s determination to uphold the status quo of Taiwan that has “served this region so well for so long”

“Under the 'One China' policy, the US acknowledges China's position that Taiwan is part of China, but has never officially recognised Beijing's claim to the democratic island of 23 million,” said Austin.

The US defence chief vowed to augment the island’s ability to defend itself against what he described as increasingly “provocative and destabilising” moves by Beijing: "We will continue to fulfill our commitments under the Taiwan Relations Act. And that includes assisting Taiwan and maintaining a sufficient self-defence capability. And that means maintaining our own capacity to resist any use of force, or other forms of coercion that would jeopardise the security or the social or economic system of the people of Taiwan".

❗A US court has dismissed a rape lawsuit against Cristiano Ronaldo

Kathryn Mayorga, 37, an alleged rape victim, filed a civil lawsuit against Cristiano Ronaldo in 2018: she claimed that the football player's lawyers had paid her $375,000 in hush money. The woman was reportedly seeking $79 million in damages for "past pain and suffering".

US District Judge Jennifer Dorsey in Las Vegas dismissed the case with no option to file it again, adding that Ronaldo was "harmed" by conduct of Mayorga's attorney, Leslie Mark Stovall: "I find that the procurement and continued use of these documents was bad faith, and simply disqualifying Stovall will not cure the prejudice to Ronaldo because the misappropriated documents and their confidential contents have been woven into the very fabric of (plaintiff Kathryn) Mayorga's claims...Harsh sanctions are merited", the ruling said.
