🥴 Opal Vadhan, an aide to Harris, posted the video with the caption "Madam VP" and three basketball emoji icons on Wednesday. The five-second clip showed the vice president sinking the shot during an event marking the 50th anniversary of Title IX (which prohibits sexual discrimination in any school or university that receives funding from the federal government) at the American University sports center.

Her speech didn't take long to go viral, with many conservative twitterians accusing her of wanting to leave the US victimized. Others also defended the ruling, claiming it protects their right to self-defense, given that "not everyone can afford private security like Hochul."

Afghan national released from Guantanamo Bay after 15 years

Assadullah Haroon Gul, who was held without charge for 15 years at the US military prison in Cuba under the name Haroon al-Afghani, was delivered to Qatar ̶ which has long served as a go-between between the US and the Taliban.

Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban’s deputy culture and information minister, wrote on Twitter that Gul was one of the last two Afghan prisoners held at Guantanamo Bay.

“As a result of the efforts of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and its direct and positive interaction with the United States, one of the remaining two detainees, Asadullah Haroon, was released from Guantanamo prison,” he stated.
