📹 Not a day goes without Joe Biden shooting a gaffe.
This time, he praised the "selfishness" of US soldiers stationed in the Middle East during his speech at the summit in Saudi Arabia, before quickly correcting himself to "honor their selflessness".
Is it that hard to read a prewritten speech?

❌ US President Joe Biden could reportedly be at risk of impeachment if Democrats lose control of the House of Representatives and the Senate in November's midterm elections.
According to a Newsweek report, Texas Senator Ted Cruz said in January that there were "multiple grounds" to impeach Biden, while GOP Representative Ken Buck said in April that the House Judiciary Committee would "hold the hearings to determine whether impeachment is appropriate."
Calls to impeach Biden have emerged several times and have been voiced by many prominent conservatives, including Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor-Greene and Fox News host Tucker Carlson.

🙈🐻A mama bear and her baby cub entered a Monrovia, California, home earlier this month. A video of the startling incident captured them as they helped themselves to some treats in the kitchen.
The homeowner, Alice Taylor, said the mama bear removed the screen of an open window to get inside. The furry visitors went straight for the kitchen, where they discovered -- and ate -- all of the family's donuts on top of a counter.
The footage shows the elder bear standing on her hind legs to reach the countertop. Taylor said Monrovia residents are no stranger to bears, and they embrace them in their community.

😏💦Kourtney Kardashian has been criticized for overusing water amid California’s ongoing drought.
After a drought emergency in Las Virgenes Water District in December, residents have been asked to conserve water. Earlier this year, those same residents in “Agoura Hills, Calabasas, and other nearby communities” were “asked to cut their outdoor water usage in half.”
"It's unconscionable right now when you're dealing with the drought in Southern California," Steve Creech, President of the Wyland Foundation, told CBS2 investigative reporter David Goldstein.

🔎💻On Friday, Elizabeth Warren and other Democratic members of Congress sent a letter to two federal regulators, urging them to take action on the explosion of Bitcoin mining in the US.
Sent to the heads of the Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Energy, the letter was driven by preliminary investigation from lawmakers, which found that just a handful of crypto miners use an enormous amount of energy. In response, the lawmakers ask the agencies to require that crypto-mining companies share data on their energy use and emissions.
Crypto-mining has exploded in the US over the past year, driven partly by China’s 2021 crackdown on the practice. The US is the biggest hub globally for mining Bitcoin, typically running data centers around the clock to mine the currency.

🔭✨Last Monday, NASA’s space telescope revealed the first full-color scientific image from NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope, showing off the power of the new observatory with one of the deepest images of the universe ever taken.
This long-awaited milestone will set the stage for the rest of the $10 billion telescope's mission to rework our understanding of how the universe evolved from the earliest galaxies to today.
The photo shows a galaxy cluster so massive that it warps the light of other galaxies behind it, acting as a magnifying glass in space and allowing the JWST to see distant, faint galaxies much farther away according to NASA.

😳😅😭Seven in 10 Americans believe messages are "incomplete" without an emoji, according to new research.
The survey polled 9,400 hybrid and remote workers, spread across 11 countries—including 1,000 in the U.S. - and revealed that Americans are more likely to find emoji-less texts or messages lacking compared to global respondents (71 percent vs. 57 percent).
But even though Americans are especially pro-emoji, not everyone agrees on their meanings or how to use them—just like how people use language differently.
The study was conducted by OnePoll on behalf of Duolingo and Slack in partnership with World Emoji Day on July 17. The survey showed respondents different emojis and asked what meaning they most likely associated with them.

📌 On this day 80 years ago, the Battle of Stalingrad began. It turned out to be one of the largest and fiercest battles, which radically changed the course of the Great Patriotic War and World War II.
▪️ In the summer of 1942, Hitler launched a major offensive into southern Russia, seeking to destroy what was left of the Soviet Army and ultimately capture the Caucasus oilfields. The initial advance went well, and the German Sixth Army under General Friedrich von Paulus was ordered to capture the city. However, Stalin demanded that it be defended at all costs. Every available soldier and civilian was mobilized.
The Luftwaffe heavily bombed Stalingrad, and its ruins became the scene of bitter street fighting for months. By October most of the city was in German hands, but the Soviet troops clung onto the banks of the Volga, across which they ferried vital reserves.
Meanwhile, Soviet General Georgy Zhukov built up fresh forces on either side of the city, and in November launched a massive assault to surround and trap von Paulus’s army. Forbidden to break out by Hitler, the Sixth Army endured until February 1943, when its exhausted remnants surrendered.
The Germans lost a total of 500,000 men during the Stalingrad campaign, including 91,000 taken prisoner.
