🇺🇸 Surfside Search-and-Rescue

📍 The Surfside search-and-rescue efforts will continue after the demolition of the portion of the condominium building left standing, Vice Mayor Tina Paul told Sputnik.

📍 The controlled demolition at Champlain Towers South could happen Sunday evening or Monday morning before Tropical Storm Elsa impacts the weather in Miami-Dade County.

📍 According to Paul, the search-and-rescue operation in Surfside could last for weeks and maybe months and she hopes that there will be more people found alive under the rubble.

🔎I know it's not been looking good. But I think, the reality is we know that it's not looking good, but you have to think there could be a miracle," Paul told Sputnik.

📍 The vice mayor says the collapse of the multi-story condominium could have been triggered by multiple factors, including poor maintenance, tidal waves, as well as a weakening of the foundation because of nearby construction.

🔎 “To find out what really happened, we have to look at everything. And it doesn't make all the other buildings vulnerable,” Paul said. She pointed out that a lot of the nearby buildings now hired structural engineers but it appears that at the moment, there are no buildings that are cause of immediate concern.

👶 “We’re babies as a country”

Matthew McConaughey congratulated Americans on the 4th of July in his unique manner, saying in a video posted on Twitter that the US is “basically going through puberty”.

“As we celebrate our independence today, as we celebrate our birth as a nation, the day that kick-started a revolution to gain our sovereignty, let's admit that this last year, this trip around the Sun, was also another head-scratcher”, the superstar said.

“But let's also remember that we're babies as a country. We're basically going through puberty in comparison to other countries' timeline, and we're going to go through growing pains”.

This holiday address might be more than just an inspiring statement about unity, since McConaughey previously considered running for governor of Texas next year 🤔
