The National Iranian Oil Company and Russian energy giant Gazprom have signed a memorandum of cooperation marking the largest foreign investment in the history of the Iranian oil industry, the Tasnim news agency reported on Tuesday.

The agreement provides for the development of two gas fields in the Persian Gulf with an investment of $10 billion by Gazprom. The Russian company's participation in these projects looks to increase the production of gas by more than 100 million cubic meters per day.

In oil, Gazprom likewise reportedly pledged to cooperate in the start-up of six oil fields. The energy companies are also negotiating an additional joint project that should provide for the investment of a further $15 billion by the Russian energy giant.

💬''Russia and Iran share a total of 70 trillion cubic meters of gas reserves, which represents 30% of the world's reserves," declared the director of the Iranian oil company.

The latest State of the Environment Report, which is conducted every five years, was released on Tuesday. The government-commissioned report concluded that Australia's environment is ''poor and deteriorating''.

▪️ There are now more non-native plant species in Australia than native ones

🔋 Panasonic’s $4 billion EV battery plant will land in Kansas

Panasonic has picked De Soto, Kansas, to build a new EV battery plant, which projects to bring up to $4 billion in investments for the state, the Kansas governor’s office said in a news release. The release predicts the plant will create up to 4,000 jobs, plus estimates of 4,000 additional jobs with suppliers and community businesses.

In April, Kansas and Oklahoma were both among the locations reportedly in the running for potential locations for Panasonic’s new battery plant. Oklahoma’s governor notably pushed lawmakers to approve a $700 million rebate package without naming which company it might benefit.

The governor’s office revealed the incentive package is worth up to $829.2 million, including a $500 million investment tax credit that stretches over five years and a $234 million payroll rebate paid over 10 years, among other sweeteners.

The Biden administration will announce later this week a new military aid package for Ukraine that will include High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS), National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby said on Tuesday.

"Later this week, the administration will announce the next presidential drawdown package of weapons and equipment to Ukraine," Kirby said at a White House press briefing. "That package will include more HIMARS … and it’ll also include some additional rounds of multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) and artillery ammunition."

🎮 Twitch is launching a new charity fundraising tool

Twitch is launching a new built-in fundraising tool called Twitch Charity to make it easier for users to run charity streams, and will allow donations to be processed in partnership with PayPal Giving Fund. The livestreaming company says all donations after payment processing fees will go to a streamer’s chosen cause - Twitch doesn’t get a cut or tax incentives.

Twitch Charity will be launching in beta to start for “some” streamers, according to a Twitch blog post. For now, there will be a “limited amount” of charities available to choose from, but Twitch plans to add more.

🚨 ‘Law & Order: Organized Crime’ Crew Member Killed at Brooklyn Film Location

A "Law & Order" contract worker was fatally shot in a car near the Brooklyn set Tuesday morning, according to the NYPD.

Johnny Pizarro, 31, was found shot in the head and neck in a car on North Henry Street near Norman Avenue in Greenpoint about 5:15 a.m., police said. Medics rushed Pizarro, of Ridgewood, to Woodhull hospital but doctors could not save his life, according to police. He didn't work directly for the show, but had been contracted to do parking enforcement.

A short, thin man in a black hooded sweatshirt and dark pants was seen running from where the shooting occurred, the police said. The area is in the 94th Precinct, where serious crime is relatively rare. No murders had previously been reported in this jurisdiction in 2022.
