▪Activate the phone’s microphone to listen to the owner
▪Activate the phone’s camera to take photos
▪Listen to captured recordings of phone calls
▪Read text and WhatsApp messages
Originally, the Israeli NSO Group's Pegasus program was created to spy on terrorists, but it was reportedly used to monitor politicians, activists, and journalists around the world. Three presidents (of France, Iraq and South Africa), ten prime ministers and one king were among the potential targets for Pegasus surveillance.
Earlier, NSO Group told the media that it does not operate the spyware itself and does not have access to the data it collects. The company also called the allegations about the surveillance of politicians slander.
