Stand-up and Emmy winner Katt Williams called the comic “brilliant.” At the same time, “Insecure” creator and television exec Issa Rae shared an image of a white heart emoji placed over a snap of Ray smiling to her Instagram Stories.

Honolulu, Hawai, celebrated this Saturday’s primary election to succeed term-limited Democratic Gov. David Ige, including a former first lady, a retired mixed martial arts champion, and a congressman who moonlights as a Hawaiian Airlines pilot.

Hawaii is a vote-by-mail state, so voters have been mailing their ballots and placing them in drop boxes across the islands since last month. Election clerks in each county have made a few voter service centers available for people registering to vote at the last minute or voting in person.

In the governor’s race, the leading Democratic candidates are Kahele, former Hawaii first lady Vicki Cayetano, and Lt. Gov. Josh Green. On the Republican side, former Lt. Gov. James R. “Duke” Aiona, retired MMA fighter BJ Penn, and Honolulu City Councilperson Heidi Tsuneyoshi are in the running.

🔻In Spain, one person was killed and at least 40 others injured when high winds caused parts of the main stage to collapse at the Medusa dance music festival on Saturday.

Violent gusts of wind tore off parts of the stage, sending Medusa festival goers running in panic. A 22-year-old man was killed when he was struck by part of the stage. "It was a tense few minutes. I've never experienced anything like it before," DJ Miguel Serna, who was performing at the time, wrote on Instagram.

"The tragedy happened just at the end of my session on the main stage, just below it, which was the most affected (area). It was a few moments of horror; I am still in shock."

🦠The virus that causes polio has been found in New York City’s wastewater in another sign that the disease, which hadn’t been seen in the U.S. in a decade, is quietly spreading among unvaccinated people, health officials said Friday.

The presence of the poliovirus in the city’s wastewater suggests likely local circulation of the virus, health authorities from the city, New York state, and the federal government said.

The authorities urged parents to vaccinate their children against the potentially deadly disease. “The risk to New Yorkers is real, but the defense is so simple — get vaccinated against polio,” New York City Health Commissioner Dr. Ashwin Vasan said. “With polio circulating in our communities, there is simply nothing more essential than vaccinating our children to protect them from this virus."

Italy’s worst drought in decades has reduced Lake Garda, the country’s largest, to near its lowest level ever recorded and warming the water to temperatures that approach the average in the Caribbean Sea.

The European Commission’s Joint Research Centre warned this week that drought conditions would worsen and potentially affect 47 percent of the continent.

Current conditions result from long periods of dry weather caused by changes in world weather systems, said meteorologist Peter Hoffmann of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research near Berlin.

According to Canberra police, after reports that gunshots had been heard in the main terminal building, officers arrived at the airport.

The situation is now "contained" after one person was taken into custody and a firearm recovered. No one has been injured.

The police also checked CCTV cameras and it is believed at present that the detainee is the only person who can be blamed for the shooting

Nancy Heche, an 85-year-old Christian psychologist, is in the tragic position of having survived four of her five children, after her youngest child Anne Heche, the Hollywood star, died two days ago at the age of 54 from complications sustained during a car crash.

Before Anne was born, her sister Cynthia died of a heart defect at the age of two months. Anne's brother Nathan died in a car accident aged 18, three months after the death of Nancy's husband Donald, who died of AIDS in 1983. Another sister, Susan Bergman, who wrote her own family memoir called 'Anonymity', died in 2006 from brain cancer.

Only one Heche sister, Abigail, remains
