🥛🇺🇸 Soy riot: In Nashville, Tennessee, vegans covered their feet in cement to protest a 50-cent upcharge at Starbucks for plant-based milk that “discriminates against people who are concerned for cows”
The activists wanted to call on Starbucks to "end the vegan upcharge" on plant-based milk. While protesters last summer stuck themselves to cafes with glue, now they have taken it to a new level: young people sealed themselves in cement.
After protesters blocked an entire street, police were called to restore order, eventually arresting one of the most energetic activists. Another participant was taken to hospital due to leg pain from the cement.

📝📍A teacher strike in Ohio’s largest school district entered its third day Wednesday, the first day of school for some 47,000 students, with some students and their parents rallying to their sides.
Parents, students, teachers, and other employees gathered at schools across the Columbus School District with plans to picket for hours, advocating for safer buildings, better heating and air conditioning, smaller class sizes, and a more well-rounded curriculum that includes art, music and physical education. It’s the union’s first strike in the district since 1975.
Picketers blasted music on the sidewalks outside Whetstone High School in Columbus and waved to honking drivers. Some held up signs reading, “Columbus schools deserve working air,” “a history lesson in progress” and “my feet hurt but I’ll walk as long as it takes.”

🎯Progressive activist Maxwell Frost, one of the first members of Generation Z to run for Congress, has won his Democratic primary in Florida, according to a race called by The Associated Press.
Frost's win nearly secures his path to Congress since the Orlando-based seat is considered a solidly Democratic district. Frost will face off against Republican Calvin Wimbish in November.
"Today's election is proof that Central Florida's working families want representation that has the courage to ask for more," Frost said in a statement. "I share this victory with the nurses, forklift drivers, teachers, caregivers, social workers, farmers, union organizers, cashiers, and other members of this vibrant community who supported this campaign."

😷People recovering from COVID-19 suffer from increased rates of brain fog and dementia, according to the largest study of its kind, which was published on Thursday.
The research suggests such neurological and psychiatric conditions remain more common for as long as two years after a COVID-19 infection compared with other respiratory infections.
Researchers also found an increased risk of anxiety and depression, but noted that this subsides to rates in line with other respiratory diseases within two months of contracting COVID-19.
The study, published in The Lancet Psychiatry journal, analyzed data on 14 neurological and psychiatric diagnoses gathered from more than a million patient health records, mostly in the United States, during a two-year period, reported Sky News.

🚴♂️ Peloton's high-end exercise bikes and other gear will now be able to be bought on Amazon in the U.S., in a partnership aimed at boosting the fitness company's sales that have languished since the easing of pandemic lockdowns.
“We want to meet consumers where they are, and they are shopping on Amazon,” Kevin Cornils, Peloton's chief commercial officer, said in a statement Wednesday. The collaboration is Peloton's first with another retailer. Before, its products were sold only through its website, physical showrooms and other channels.
And it comes after the company said it was shedding jobs, shifting its delivery work to third-party vendors, and significantly reducing the number of stores it has in North America.

◾️The Biden administration has strengthened the legal standing of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) policy by making it an official regulation in the Federal Register, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said in a press release.
"Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro N. Mayorkas today announced that the Department has issued a final rule that will preserve and fortify the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) policy for certain eligible noncitizens who arrived in the United States as children, deferring their removal and allowing them an opportunity to access a renewable, two-year work permit," the release said on Wednesday.
DACA was launched by the Obama administration in 2012. The policy permits children of illegal immigrants brought to the United States under 16 to remain in the country, provided they had arrived by 2007. The policy helped protect at least 700,000 young immigrants from deportation.

🤥 The United States is afraid crimes committed by Ukraine's Azov nationalists (terrorist organization, banned in Russia) will be made public, the Russian Embassy to the US said in a statement on Telegram.
▪️ Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) leader Denis Pushilin earlier said the DPR authorities would not delay the international tribunal for war criminals in the republic. He said the DPR Foreign Ministry is working to invite the international community to take part in the tribunal.
🗯 "We have taken note of another groundless accusation against our country related to the Tribunal over Ukrainian war criminals. The upcoming Trial is aimed at bringing justice to war criminals, among which there are Nazis from the Azov Regiment. Washington is clearly afraid of making public the evidence of the inhumane acts committed by the members of this terrorist organization," the embassy said.

🤔 Elements within the US government have put the world on the edge of war due to reckless policy decisions with respect to the situations in Ukraine and Taiwan, former Virginia State Senator Richard Black told Sputnik.
🗯 "There are elements of the American government that are quite irresponsible right now. And they do reckless things. They're doing them in Ukraine, and they're doing them with Taiwan. And they're being recklessly provocative," Black said. "When a nation like the United States is reckless, when they gamble that they can do something that's provocative, then they depend on the sound judgment of the other country... and that's a very dangerous thing to do, because either side can make mistakes."
▪️ Black said he shares former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger's concerns that the US is on the edge of war with Russia and China over issues "we partly created ourselves," without any idea where this is going to end or even where it is supposed to lead to.
