✔️ The experience of combat use has shown that the helmet of the Russian-made infantry gear Ratnik (Warrior) is 30-40% more effective in terms of protection than its analogues from NATO countries, Russian state corporation Rostec told Sputnik.

▪️ The corporation added that developers of the Ratnik helmet faced the task of protecting a soldier from small striking objects, given that in practice, approximately 75% of head wound cases are caused by fragments weighing 1-1.5 grams.

▪️ According to Rostec, the Ratnik helmet not only tackles small-sized objects, but it is also capable of protecting a serviceman from larger fragments (a diameter of 25-30 millimeters) and even bullets.

Man sentenced to ten years prison for killing service dogs in the Mexican state of Querétaro.

A judge sentenced Benjamín “N” to ten years and six months in prison for using poisoned sausages to kill Athos and Tango, rescue and emotional support dogs that were part of the emergency bodies of the Mexican Red Cross. Balam, the puppy of border collie Athos, also suffered serious illness due to the poisoned food.

In addition, Benjamín “N” will have to pay 2.3 million pesos ($115,000) in damages and a fine of 115,000 pesos ($5,700).

The man reportedly disliked the dog’s presence on the street where he lived and had already clashed with their owner.

Lawyers viewed the judge’s decision as a sign that the loss of a pet is no longer considered losing an object in Mexico, but rather losing a living being that represents irreparable damage and loss to a family.

◾️The Chinese Consulate General in San Francisco on Wednesday strongly condemned recent violence against Asian Americans after the killings of two Chinese people in the city of Oakland.

In a statement released on its WeChat account, the consulate said the deaths of the two people of Chinese descent came amid a series of violent crimes committed against Asians in the United States. The statement also noted that others have suffered injuries in attacks against Asians.

The consulate expressed its firm condemnation of the crimes and extended its sympathies to the families of the victims. Racial discrimination against Asian Americans in the US has become increasingly serious, with more hate crimes occurring, the consulate said in the statement. China has expressed its deep concerns over the issue and urged concrete measures from the US government to address racism, xenophobia, and discrimination.

😲A north Texas community is fuming after an official high school counselor’s account posted inappropriate content on Instagram. On Sunday, the Emerson High School counselors’ Instagram account reposted a “self-help” graphic from another account. While some of the advice was relatively innocuous, like “don’t pressure yourself” and “prioritizing self-love is important for your mental and physical health,” one of the tips was “toys can help you overcome your sexual anxiety.”

The original post was meant to advertise a discount code for the “Empress 2 clitoral vacuum stimulator.”

The post quickly came to the attention of state representative Jared Patterson, who represents a portion of Frisco in the Texas Legislature. “The sexualization of our kids has to stop. The lack of accountability has to stop. The lies have to stop. The cover ups have to stop,” Patterson, whose children attend FISD schools, said in a Facebook post.

🚫🚘California regulators voted Thursday to approve a first-of-its-kind rule that would ban the sales of new gas-powered cars by 2035. Governor Gavin Newsom proposed the 2035 ban two years ago with an executive order that directed California Air Resources Board (CARB) and others to determine how to implement the plan.

The new rule requires automakers to hit milestones along the way. By 2026, 35 percent of new cars in California must be zero-emission vehicles, and the quota will rise to 68 percent by 2030, and 100 percent in 2035.

The rules would not impact used vehicles, allowing them to stay on the roads. The rules will not be immediate, and will go into effect in 2026, said CARB member Daniel Sperling. "The climate crisis is solvable if we focus on the big, bold steps necessary to stem the tide of carbon pollution," Newsom said on Wednesday.

🚀🧑‍🚀NASA and Boeing are now targeting early 2023 for the first crewed flight of Boeing's long-delayed Starliner spacecraft, officials said during a joint press conference Thursday.

Launch officials say the mission could take off as early as February, according to Steve Stich, the manager of NASA's Commercial Crew Program.
Starliner had been slated to get astronauts off the ground by the end of 2022. But continued work on several major issues that were identified on an uncrewed test flight of Starliner in May pushed the schedule back.

Starliner is already years behind schedule. It's intended to serve the same purpose as SpaceX's Crew Dragon capsule, which has been ferrying astronauts to and from the International Space Station since May 2020.

🐶Despite the rising cases of parvo (a contagious virus mainly affecting dogs), the second largest meet-up of golden retrievers in the United States is still planning to take place in northern Michigan.

The Northwest Michigan Golden Retriever Club plans to hold its third annual gathering in Benzie County.

The club's founder Jeff Rabidoux said the club will continue to follow the advice of health officials.

"We're kind of in a holding pattern as it is, Michigan State University is obviously, in our state, the greatest source for veterinary knowledge,” Rabidoux said. “At this point, we're kind of sitting and waiting to see what additional information they might be able to provide so that we can make the best decision."
