In Colorado 22-year-old Christian Glass, who had a mental health crisis, was shot by police after he called 911 for help as his car crashed into a berm. Police officers behaved aggressively and Christian started to panic and decided not to leave the car. They failed to convince Christian to leave the vehicle. In the end, the officers knocked out the car window, and pointed a weapon at him, which made the young man scared and picked up a knife. Then one of the cops used a taser on Christian, and the other shot him through the windshield.

After the incident, the police allegedly lied, saying that he tried to attack them with a knife, but this refuted by a recording from the body camera of the officer who opened fire. An examination showed that the young man was not drunk and had not taken drugs

🚧Rescuers searched Wednesday for someone missing in a mudslide that swept boulders down fire-scarred slopes. The blaze damaged or destroyed 30 homes in the Southern California mountains as firefighters in the northern part of the state tried to contain an explosive week-old blaze.

Dogs aided in the hunt for a missing person in a heavily damaged area of the San Bernardino Mountains east of Los Angeles. Thunderstorms unleashed rocks, trees, and earth that washed away cars, buried homes, and affected 3,000 residents of two remote communities.

The force of mud barreling down the mountain late Monday drove a dumpster through the walls of the Oak Glen Steakhouse and Saloon. A massive tree became lodged in the dining room, muck was waist-deep in the kitchen, and wine bottles were slathered in mud.

🇲🇽A Mexican army general has been detained in connection with the disappearance of 43 students in 2014. The government said Thursday. The general, who commanded a battalion in the area of southern Mexico where the incident occurred, is one of three suspects detained, Deputy Security Minister Ricardo Mejia told reporters.

Prosecutors announced last month that arrest warrants had been issued for more than 80 suspects in the case, including 20 military personnel, 44 police officers, and 14 cartel members.

The same day, former attorney general Jesus Murillo Karam, who led a controversial investigation into the mass disappearance, was detained on charges of forced disappearance, torture, and obstruction of justice. The case is one of the worst human rights tragedies in Mexico, where a spiral of drug-related violence has left more than 100,000 people missing.
